Dr. Thomas Edward Cataldo, MD

Dr. Cataldo was excellent. He explained things thoroughly and put me right at ease. I didn’t feel rushed and could ask my many questions. He gave me helpful remedies and never suggested unnecessary surgery. It was quite the opposite, I appreciate a conservative approach to healthcare. An appointment I dreaded and procrastinated on for years turned out to be very positive because of Dr. Cataldo.

Informative, to the point, cautious in approach and ultimately in execution, and leading a team of attentive and practiced surgical professionals I hold the Doctor and his team in high regard. The doctor not only performed and excellent bowel resection to remove Stage III cancer with no complications, but was sure to visit me with his team daily to follow-up while I recovered in the hospital This support, technical as well as the personal conversation was just the kind of patient focused excellence that, I believe, one can expect from the Beth Israel experience overall. Super rude doctor, bad communication. You have to press all the time for test results and he is extremely impatient at explaining things. Shows very little sympathy. Not sure about the medical expertise side.

I have already sought out a different doctor. Waited for over 2 hours to be seen without any acknowledgement of the wait. His intern saw me first. Then the doctor came in ready to do a procedure without having met me or doing any sort of exam. When I balked he reluctantly performed an exam and spent maybe 5 minutes total. Terrible bedside manner, no time nor respect for patients.

Dr Cataldo is an excellent surgeon with warmth and compassion.

Totally agree with the previous reviewer. His bedside manners are not good at all. He appears very aloof and not engaged at all. The nurses were so very much attentive after the colonoscopy. Never saw his face again after the procedure, not even a hello,how are you? I am definitely NOT returning to him. Moving on....

dr cataldo is a monster. he is curt, rude and overall unfriendly. he does not care how much or little you know about your given health problem. he just wants to hurry you along and collect payment. he has NO EMOTIONAL EMPATHY for his patients. also, he is well know for bringing in MED STUDENTS into the office while inspects your body. normal doctors ask you first (WITHOUT the med students already in the office). not dr cataldo...he brings them in, and puts the patient on the spot while asking you if it is ok to have them watch. what kind of medical professional does this? do yourself a favor, save yourself the grief now by finding another doctor.
