Dr. Thomas James Connolly, MD

Dr. Connolly has been taking care of my children for 10 years. My oldest was born in Orlando with allergic gastroenteritis. He was in & out of the hospital the first few months. We moved to Jax when he was 6 mo old and we went through practice after practice, because none of the drs really understood his condition and couldn't be bothered to learn. We ended up with Dr. Connolly and he took the time to read all of my son's records and then admitted he didn't know much about it, but he'd research it and he did. The next time we went to see him he was able to tell us things we didn't know and he coordinated care with a nutrionist & GI specialist at Nemours. When my son was 4, we moved an hr south and regrettably changed peds. We went practice to practice looking for that same level of care. In 2010, my 2nd son was born & he had the same condition. I knew immediately, but the current Dr wouldn't listen to me. My son ended up so sick & dehydrated at 2 weeks old that he became virtually… unresponsive. We rushed him to Wolfsons and on the way I called Dr. Connolly's office, explained who I was and the situation and asked them to please take us back as patients. Not only did the nurse speak to Dr. Connolly, who was happy to take us back, but she called us back to let us know and to ask us to keep them updated. Arriving at the ER, they took one look at my son, rushed us back and he was admitted immediately. That evening after Dr. Connolly got off work, he came to the hospital to check on my son... Who he had never even met and to assure us that he was in good hands as he knew his attending personally. THAT is a Dr. who cares. My now 13 year old won't go to anyone else, and my now 6 year old asks for him specifically when he's sick. He also sees my 3 yo daughter who has a heart defect, and was very quick to get us into a pediatric cardiologist when she was a week old. I will gladly drive an hr to know that my children are in the hands of someone who never rushes us through an appt, who always takes the time to assess my child fully, who has a wonderful bedside manner and goes beyond to make my child feel comfortable, who listens to what I have to say, and who always explains things thoroughly.

At first we thought he was great but when our daughter started getting multiple ear infections he was not timely with his ENT ref. My daughter had 4 ear infections in less than 3 months and with a history of my own ear infections and surgeries . When I brought her the next day after running a fever he chuckled and said we needed to throw at the thermometer. After actually looking into my daughters ears they were both very red and infected. Then having to return for the 3 days of injections. Finally spoke with a MD who would listen and use common sense instead of what "they" recommend. We got an ENT ref and she needed tubes bilaterally. NO MORE INFECTIONS and she started walking! Fancy that.

He is very caring of my children. Spends all the time I need no matter how long is needed. Very hands on and explains things to where I can understand them. Makes me as a mother feel comfortable with the things he tells me in regards to child raising and is very respectful. My children are comfortable and take to heart what ever is said to them to do with any medicine or changes in life they need to follow. Very thankful for a doctor who cares more than just at the office for my children, even takes the time off the clock to get things done in regards to my children, which is something you do not see with every doctor.
