This is the best psychiatrist I have ever been in treatment with. He is very knowledgeable and compassionate. Always returns my call and gives me hope and support

Writing with no biased , I can to him for help and he is really nice and caring when you see him at the office. Isn’t that the most important thing? The office itself isn’t the fanciest , but hey , I’m not there for the scenery or ambiance . I’ll continue to keep seeing Dr D’amato

Once you walk it, the place is low class and rather disgusting. Receptionist is rude and has no idea what she is doing. The Doctor is nice in person but don't ever call him on the phone as he changes into one of the unhelpful, rudest people I have ever met. I pointed it out to him and he told me that he must have been having a bad day, I was no, you are rude every time I call you and to other people also who I know stopping go to him because of that. A man in his field of medicine should never be rude like that to patients. So pretty much depends on his mood that day. Nice or horrible.

In my experiences with Dr. D'Amato, I have found myself in a much more stable and well mannered state than before I found him. When I first called him, he answered me and told me that he would be happy to see me and accommodate my needs. His staff is very polite, and he, himself, is a great listener. And he knew everything about my case, and prescribed me medications that have helped me tremendiously and explained to me what each one was for. He is well dressed, has a bright personality, and a beautiful smile. He is respected by all his patients. He treats all that need his care, ranging from young children to LGBTQ patients. I would definitely recommend anyone who needs psychiatric help to see him. In my visits with him, I have learned that he works at a few different locations. He runs his practice in Bayonne, works at the clinic in Christ Hospital, treats Alzheimer's patients in Staten Island, and works in a school in South Jersey. He is one of the top psychiatrists in the states of… NY and NJ. Again, I would highly recommend him. I am looking forward to my next visit with him.

Always ask questions, never makes the visit feel like he is always busy. Recommends the correct meds to me based on my disorders and symptoms

excellent kind psychiatrist who helped me with my issues. Smart ,listened to me and my issues and prescribed me the medications that I needed that no other psychiatrist could do. expert in GLBTQ and great knowledge of the field and community concerns.

This doctor wrote down things about me during my intake that were simply not true. He made assumptions about the things I said and misunderstood me, and after that he never believed me when I said the wrong things had been written down. It was terrible to hear him mention an incorrect symptoms every time I saw him. He has a gentle manner and I think he genuinely does care about his patients. I just think he is a bad listener and jumps to diagnosis when he is not equipped to diagnose after just seeing us for 5 minutes at a time. Both therapists I worked with at his own office gave a different diagnosis than he did but he stuck to his guns and acted like people who worked for a lot of time with me knew more than he did when we barely spent more than a few minutes together once every three months. He did give me medication that helps me, and I like that he doesn't prescribe really high doses. I like that he works with people who don't have a lot of money so it was worth it to deal with… him repeating incorrect diagnoses to me over and over again when I didn't have a lot of money. But now I am doing better so I am looking forward to finding another doctor.
