Dr. Thomas Stovell Davant, DDS

Meet Dr. Davant
Dr. Thomas Davant is a native of Northeast Columbia and attended elementary, middle and junior high in the Northeast before graduating from Spring Valley High School in 1981. After graduating from the University of South Carolina with his undergraduate degree in Chemistry, he went on to the Medical University of South Carolina, where he served as President of the Student Dental Association his junior year and as Vice-president of the entire student body his senior year. He continued at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and then attended the University of Chicago, where he received his master’s degree in orthodontics. In 1990, Dr. Davant was honored with the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Award from Northwestern University, for his study of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). This was later published in the September 1993 issue of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
In addition to his private …practice, Dr. Davant serves as a member of the Craniofacial/Cleft Palate team at Palmetto Richland Hospital. He is the head of the orthodontic division that works with children with dentofacial anomalies.
He and his wife, Kim, have two children, Thomas VII and a daughter, Taylor. He is active in his community as a member of Trinity in Northeast Columbia. During his leisure time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family. He also recently completed his third marathon.
