Dr. Thomas Aambrose Dowgin, MD

Dr. Dowgin was assigned to me during a stay at Poudre Valley Hospital for a diagnostic colonoscopy. He met with me the afternoon before the procedure to explain the entire process and its inherent (minimal) risks. We spoke again the next morning before my colonoscopy and his was the first face I saw after coming out of the anesthesia. He was calm and reassuring as he told me that everything went exceptionally well but that he had discovered what he was almost certain was a malignant tumor and that surgery to remove it was already scheduled for the following day. Perhaps I was in shock about the possibility of having cancer but something about his presence and demeanor kept me calm. A year later he did my follow up colonoscopy and he all but cheered as he told me afterward that everything was normal. He was genuinely happy to give me good news.

I feel I jumped the gun on my previous review of Dr. Dowgin and feel I need to make it right. Yes bedside manner is a zero BUT he was able to diagnosis my issue, which was so far off in left field to me but we have now got some answers and in the right direction because of his knowledge. I will end this by saying Thank you. If you want answers Dr. Dowgin is the Doctor to see.

If you want a Dr. with some sort of bedside manner this is not the Dr. I feel that my referral visit that I waited 6 weeks for was a waste of time and money. He did not go over any of the points that my referring Dr had mentioned at all. I will be contacting my referring Dr and will try to get into a Dr. That will address my issues.

Found him to offer full, clear explanations, stopped after procedure with an unexpected update. Professional demeanor, plus patient for questions.

If you want to feel like a number and an insurance card, this is the place to go. Doctor was never available or showed any compasion for my pain. WIll not recommend to anyone who wants a caring doctor.

did not fully read medical history reports! Had wrong information about patient and did not even know what meds had been prescribed by doctors in his own office. Poor bed side manner. Wanted to do unnecessary procedures and tests that were already done but, would have known that if he took the time to read medical charts. Not happy!
