Dr. Thomas Francis Drost JR., MD

Dr frost has poor bed side banners. He’s very rude and brags who his patents are, when I told him it was a violation he claims he got permission. He wants to be famous. Nope nope nope

I went to see Dr Drost after the surgeon I was referred to was no longer practicing. I had a complete evaluation and scheduled an in office procedure for a later date. I came back one month later for the surgery and was not called with pre-op instructions. I was given a local anesthetic and within one minute he went to cut and I told him I feel pain. I had to hold my own butt-cheek with my nervous hand while he told me to relax and made the incision. I was and in our within 5 mins and my mother who had come in town to help with my children while I recovered was beyond shocked. I was given a generic white sheet of paper with "post-op" instructions and sent with two prescriptions and was told "normally we have our patients get these filled prior to the procedure" (again I was not called for pre-op). The doctor told me to where tight pants to compress the incision to help stop the bleeding and to sit. I followed his instructions verbatim and within 24 hours a had a large purple, very… painful abscess between my butt-checks. I waited the entire weekend in hopes this was just something that was to be expected but by Monday morning I wasn't any better after taking 3 sitz baths a day and pain taking meds very rarely in order not to "over do it". I was told I could return to work on Monday. Today is Monday and I’ve been in terrible pain but not from the incision. I called the doctor and he couldn't have been more cold, unconcerned or uninterested in what I was experiencing. He didn't ask one question, not one! He simply kept saying "it's a hemorrhoid and I need to follow the instruction sheet". I went to him for help after 8 years of dealing with hemorrhoids and this is what I get?! I am seeing another Rectal surgeon immediately and will tell everyone I know not to trust Dr Drost at Rectal Health. He cares only about money and getting you in and out. I'm literally in tears. I finally opted to get help after being miserable and accepting the time I would need to take off to recover and all I've got is an open wound and a much bigger problem (with actually what I believe is a perianal hematoma from the surgery) despite the Drs evaluation over the phone with zero questions. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!

Friendly, knowledgeable and a good physician. I liked his approach and his experienced manner. Place of business was well kept and clean. Excellent support administration and appointment reminder system.

Horrible experience. Very rude and unprofessional. Doesn't listen to you at all.

Had a great experience today with my visit to Dr. Drost. I had a bad Hemorrhoid that turned into a blood clot. He knew exactly what to do and he took care of it. This was the first one i have ever had. I think one thing people have to understand is that this is one of the most severe types of pain you will experience and treating it will hurt no matter what type of treatment you choose its the nature of this health problem. The bottom line is finding someone who knows what there doing is the most important thing you can do and this Doctor knows his stuff. So grin and bare it and let him fix it and you will be glad you did. I suffered for a week and a half in sheer misery before I went to see him and i learned had i seen him within in the first 48 Hours of the onset he could have cut the recovery time down considerably. So don't waste a minute call the minute it hits. This guy made me feel comfortable and i would recommend him to anyone.

I am RN for 40 years and between my husband with chronic issues and myself, we've seen over 30 MDs in our lifetime. I have never experienced where the doctor literally would not listen or let me talk. Interrupted with scolding constantly. People go to a doctor for help: it is none of his business that I did not return sooner because my husband is dying. If I wanted to be treated with this much disrespect, I'd go to my work place. Really--go somewhere else. In Chicagoland there are many other options with people who will treat you professionally.

What was promised to be cleared up was only partially cleared up. I now have discomfort that I didn't previously have. I am rather disappointed in the outcome.

Very good experience, immediately diagnosed my anal fissure that multiple doctors and other professionals misdiagnosed as hemerhoids. His attitude is a little different, but I am so happy he cured. I would characterize him as unconventional, but I was very happy with the results.

The lady that answers the phone and runs his office business is very nice, that is the only good thing I have to say. If you go in to see this doctor about hemorrhoids and he is able to help you be prepared for him to tell you that you are too swollen for him to treat today, so you will need to come back after your problem has calmed down. If he can not help you he will refer your "business" else where. In all of my years of seeing doctors I have never been referred to as "business", previous doctors have always referred to the PEOPLE they see as patients. This doctor referred to me as business. The few minutes he spent with me was enough to ruin the rest of my week, he lacks compassion, bed side manner, and made me feel like an idiot. His advice also had contradictions in it. I asked for a referral and was suggested to go to Rush in Chicago (this is very far), then I was told to ask my PCP and to stay close to home? To me this doctor seems to give a rehearsed… speech, he became irritated when I tried to talk or ask any questions before he was done with his presentation. Guess I am just suppose to be silent, accept what is told to me, and have no questions or concerns about my health.
