Dr. Thomas Benedict Freeman, MD

Dr. Freeman, bless his heart, has been a God-send to me. I have suffered many years from neck and back pain. I have recently had my 4th surgery by Dr. Freeman. So far, this last one (one week ago) is proving to be just as well as the others. I would recommend him 100% to anyone without hesitation. Thank you Sir, for your knowledge and expertise! Dr. Freeman has performed several spine surgeries over the years from laminectomies to fusions etc. I am now walking where I could not. He is thorough, professional and extremely knowledgable. His office staff is wonderful. Would not consider going anywhere else.

i unfortunately had a laminectomy with Dr. Thomas Freeman and am currently in horrible pain. I was admitted to TGH with uncontrolled pain after my surgery. TGH was wonderful, however DR. Freeman is not concerned with patient outcomes. He told me to walk like a duck and find a new pain mgmt DR, who btw was referred by him. He also said he really didn't need to see me again, this is while I'm in TGH being treated for the pain he caused. He is AWFUL!

I had a 4 level Laminectomy with Dr. Freeman. I was admitted into TGH after my procedure for uncontrolled pain and remained there for 3 days. When Dr. Freeman came to see me he said "WALK LIKE A DUCK" and find a new pain mgmt dr. Funny, the entire team of pain mgmt drs at the hospital, were at a crossroads as to how to control my pain but at least tried! He could care less about patient outcomes and my surgery was a complete failure. Tampa General Hospital is a wonderful facility, just wish I had found a different Dr who exhibited som compassion and suggestions

Dr Thomas Freeman, wow I placed my life in his hands twice in the last 7 years. And Successfully am going back to work after extensive sugery on my back. I had a lot of pain, actually for years tried everything. He and his staff are amazing.

Dr. Freeman precisely and definitively diagnosed the cause of pain in my SI joint and the L4/L5 area. I'd seen other physicians for several years, and they "thought" the SI joint was the problem, but weren't able to make a reliable diagnosis. They also failed to diagnose that there were two different causes of pain - one on each side of my body. Dr, Freeman suggested several conservative treatments (chiropractic, physical therapy, steroid injections) and we tried all these therapies over a period of several months before concluding that surgery was the best option. He performed two procedures at one time, on the L4/L5 joint and a fixation of the SI joint. By performing the two procedures in one setting, I was able to avoid two separate recoveries. He is very thorough in his explanations, is conservative in his approach to treatment, is very pleasant to work with, and has my unconditional recommendation for anyone with similar problems. And, he's just a nice guy.

Dr. Freeman is the best! Like all serious medical professionals, he seems a little "clinical" when you first meet him. But over the course of your care, you come to appreciate the level of expertise and seriousness Dr. Freeman incorporates in his treatment. Dr. Freeman is a skilled and intelligent neurosurgeon. I have been his patient from 2008-2013. I had multiple spine issues which Dr. Freeman helped me through. At one point I could barely walk, sit or stand. I was in horrible pain. After thoroughly investigating my condition, Dr. Freeman determined I was a candidate for a relatively new procedure on my sacroiliac (S-1) joint, rather than the typical L-3,4,5 surgery most patients receive. In fact, I was the third patient of his to receive this new surgery. I'm not going to sugar coat it, the post surgical pain was significant for several days and I was non weight bearing for about two months, but I am now walking, dancing, wearing my high heels again, which is a miracle and has… changed my life for the better. Like any sought after surgeon, it takes some time to get an appointment and he typically runs late due to the amount of time spent with each patient. It has been two years since the surgery and I cannot say enough about Dr. Freeman. I highly recommend him and would definitely have the surgery again. I am 64 years young thanks to him!
