Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Dr. Gillon earned his undergraduate degree at The College of the Holy Cross, where he was recognized as a U.S. Rowing Academic All-American, and in 2012 was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Dr. Gillon earned his M.D. at Penn State Hershey College of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. In addition, he was the recipient of the McGraw-Hill and Appleton & Lange Medical Student Award, and was a three-time award winner of the Dr. C. McCollister and Nancy Evarts Scholarship for “outstanding academic performance, a high level of professionalism, and a promising future in the field of medicine.” During his Orthopaedic Residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut, Dr. Gillon’s interest in hand surgery blossomed under the tutelage of the late Dr. Joseph Slade III, a pioneer in wrist arthroscopy and minimally invasive hand & wrist surgery. Dr. Gillon returned to Philadelphia when he was selected …for a Fellowship at Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
