How can you run a medical practice when nobody picks up the phone? Ridiculous people

Dr. Johns is generally goid but spends maybe 10 minutes with you. He used to not be like this and seems to have adopted the corporate assembly line style of psychiatric practice. He will cooperatevwith getting insurance and disability ketters but his notes are bad (for 10 minutes how much could he write?) Worst of all is his office staff. They are almost NEVER answering the phone for appointments. You can leave a message ti o get a call back so you just have to call. Literally I have called 20 times or more in a day and still gotten no answer. Why? Well ine staff member rambles away chattering while the phones ribg (seen it while waiting in appointment). It seems personal calls take precedence over business too. They're not too with it on billing so watch them. The doctor charges self pay patiebts about 2-3x what his insurance contracted patients pay and don't think you get extra time or attention for that easily processed and higher cash payment. "You doing ok? "I'm just… fair" "Any oroblems with medications" "I don't guess" " Well ok here's your next prescription see you next time." Maybe he dislikes me? At first he was thorough and interested. And I think he is well trained and smart. Not sure why that results in a frequent bad experience.

I have seen him twice - he listened, asked probing questions, was very helpful.

Spends 15 minutes max with each patient. Gives off air of not caring about you . Secretary is awful .... Not helpful , sighs, messes up appointments , acts as if you are a burden as well . Dr is very knoeledgable about medicine ... So if you can stomach his give a @@@t ways it may be worth it .

The only person to answer the phone 24/7 is the answering service. No matter how many messages left for Dr. Johns, he WILL NOT return a phone. His office has serious issues. The staff is rude and appears understaffed. A patient should not have to call repeatedly for days on end to speak with a staff member to even make an appointment. If you are in crisis, forget it. This isn't the doctor for you. This doctor definitely does not care about his patients. They do want prompt payment. Found another doctor who cares about his patients.

Has done wonders for me. Brief, to the point, and effective.

Supposed to be treating my wife for bipolar disorder which lead to alcohol and drug abuse. She recently began drinking again and I called his office to ask for his help. The secretary was wonderful and tried to tell Dr. Johns. He said she needed to be in rehab. As she already been in rehab twice I said she needed more. The secretary said she'd try to talk to him more when he was out of his session. He never called back. She died yesterday of alcohol and drug poisoning.

Avoid this Dr. like the plague. I agree with the other postings with regard to this doctor's failings in actually listening and working with the patient. A good psychiatrist is hard to find...but Dr. John's isn't one if them.

I went to see this doctor that I need to change my medication. He dismissed me in less than 5 minutes and did not change my medication. I ended up in hospital a week later.

Dr Johns spent zero time discussing my diagnosis and seemed extremely disinterested in actually getting to know anything about my situation. The office staff is friendly, but incompetent. Every time you call in for any sort of request, they try and charge you. Need a prescription refill? That'll cost you $25. Need a copy of a file? How about another $25. Need to reschedule an appointment? Not so fast.....pay a fee. He also has very limited availability and in 3 years, I've literally called 2 times where I wasn't put through to their answering service because no one was there. When requesting presecription refills, my pharmacy has CONSTANTLY had to send them 3-4 requests and it typically takes several days to get anything accomplished. Dr Johns has a very poorly-run practice and is a horrible ambassador to his profession.
