Dr. Thomas John Kelly, MD

I have never in my entire life met a doctor who is thorough with examining and taking the time to listen to what is going on. He also asked a lot of questions, did not rush me at all. He went above and beyond and this is the way to go. As you all know it's hard to get into a specialist so when you do you want a doctor to take the time to help you, and he sure did. He is a very smart man, you will not be disappointed

I saw this man after I suspected I had encephalopathy (brain damage). This doctor ordered an MRI, SPECT imaging as well as an EEG. The MRI and SPECT were both abnormal on the diagnostic reports….however He told me they were normal. Then, inexcusably, the EEG was ordered as an outpatient (which contradicts the medical textbooks that suggest an inpatient 24-72 hours EEG). This type of behavior should not be tolerated in the medical profession.

I went to see this man after I received a provisional diagnosis of brain damage from my use of a prescribed medication. This doctor was to confirm the diagnosis using additional testing. After additional brain imaging came back abnormal this doctor could not pinpoint a cause. He rejected the drug caused it but Gave no reason why. So he told me he could not help me. After further evaluation and testing I was properly diagnosed with brain damage from the medication in question by an honest doctor. This doctor’s behavior was inexcusable. He was covering up for either the doctor that prescribed it or the medication itself.

Dr. Kelly is an extremely knowledgeable and meticulous physician. He understood my concerns and addressed all of my questions without making me feel silly. He was extremely communicative; I appreciate how he helped me understand my treatment and options.

Dear Dr. Kelly, We want to thank you and your staff for your quick and thorough responses to Jean's medical problem. You are the only ones of the several doctors who have examined her over the past several months who finally identified the cause of the problem and resolution. Without that identification and actions at this critical time the potential outcomes could have been very different.While we do not know all the things you had to change and rearrange to examine Jean so quickly and connect her to Dr. Lesniak so Jean's surgery happen so quickly, we are so appreciative of the care and actions you have taken to make it a professional, efficient, effective, quickly responsive, and very personal, kind, friendly, seamless care process and involvement. We are as awestruck with all of the level of involvement from you and your colleagues at the University of Chicago Hospitals as we are with Jean's whole situation.
