Dr. Thomas John Kottarathil, MD

Dr.K has been my Doctor since 2001 and he is a very good doctor my wife and I both had seen him till 2013 when we moved away to Las Vegas but at first we moved to Wendover Utah and then to Wendover Nevada and I would drive to go see him till 2013 when we moved to Las Vegas,Nevada then in 2025 I moved back to Salt Lake City Utah and I was looking for a new PCP and googled his name and found out that he was still practicing medicine in the same building that I used to see him at before I went to Las Vegas, so I called and made an appointment and was able to see him within the week, and I was surprised that he remembered me remembered all my illnesses and everything all the medication’s that I was on because I was on 36 medicines and he started him back up which I needed. Got my blood sugars back down under control again and I would recommend Dr. K to anyone that would ask me for a doctor or to any family members that would need a PCP and I will continue staying with him as long as he… will continue to see me.

Dr. K is a joke along with the team he’s got in there. Their lack of organization, follow-up, and follow-through is astounding. Dr. K was recommended by a friend (also a physician) as being a great Internist. I have tried to schedule, get ahold of and keep consistent prescriptions figured out (been consistent since 2008) with nothing but a runaround and what feels like a constant fight to get answers and be healthy. Derogatory remarks regarding medications and refill times. Lack of follow up upon prescribing antibiotics. Not knowing his own computer systems to transfer and reference records from Intermountain. Just one big ball of stress after stress that could have been prevented with a bit more follow through and general conscientious care. I have left Dr. K and the entire Redwood office with feeling harassed, picked on and totally looked down upon and judged. I have never been made to feel so embarrassed to work with or walk into or let alone call this provider. Pandemic or not-… these people are the worst.

Love Dr Kottarathil., Smart,intelligent and yet such good bedside manners. Diagnosed a rare condition which baffled other doctors with bigger degrees. I would recommend without reservation.

My husband fell ill and went by ambulance to the hospital. They sent him home with antibiotics and instructions to follow up with his primary doctor. He did so and Dr. K ordered a scan. Dr. K personally called him at work the next day to tell him to get immediately to the hospital for a procedure on his lung. My husband was being suffocated by the fluid around his lung. If it were not for Dr. K's follow up, I'm sure my husband would have suffered greatly. Dr. K's follow up care in the subsequent months was exceptional. He is caring, courteous, and very thorough. His nurse, Connie, is an amazing woman. They are both available and receptive to our needs. I would recommend Dr. K to anyone!

This man told my father inlaw that there was nothing wrong with him the a week later my father inlaw had a stroke. Then he was the only doc i could get in to see the same day for an eye infection he told me its nothing i dont see a thing later that day i go to ergent care and i have pink eye thanks doc i dont see an infection

Dr Kottarathil is one of the rare bright stars in the field of medicine. He was very prompt in seeing me, extremely sympathetic and wasted no time in diagnosing my condition.He is also a very caring individual and unlike some other docs., inquired about my social situation and was very helpful in getting me set in the right direction. He also followed up with a phone call later to se if I have had my required prescriptions filled and if there was any problem. He easily averted an costly ER visit for me.As a doctor with a "heart and soul" which is very rare nowadays he really epitomizes the idea we all used to have of a doctor. I believe that idea has come in realization.Thank you DR. Kottarathil!!

Dr. K is a AMAZING doctor (and quite handsome which is a plus!). He did a very thorough survey of my medical conditions and it felt as if he really cared about me. I've been through numerous internalists and they've all disappointed me due to their lack of knowledge or interest. So it was really refreshing to find a doctor who genuinely cares as much about his patients as Dr. K. Don't listen to the other reviews - he has a sense of humor but don't let that discourage you from receiving his quality care!! I would recommend him to anyone any day. I listened to his advice and am a fully recovered patient - the guy knows his stuff.

Dr. "K" proscribed me a medication for a condition I do not have that is known to have serious side effects that impact another chronic condition that I do have. He cared so little about listening to my concerns, that he sent me out the door with an expensive prescription that I filled with hope and good faith, only to realize that I should not be taking it. He didn't discuss the drug with me in a thoughtful way or, evidently, hear me when I was describing my situation.

I went to see Dr Kottarathil because I've been having incredibly severe migraine headaches, and neck pain in the vertebrae I injured in a serious car crash. I've been incoherent at times due to the severity of my headaches, so I've been keeping thorough notes on my condition for several weeks to insure that I could accurately describe my symptoms during my appointment. Not only would Dr. Kattarathil not listen to me when I described my condition, but he actually MOCKED me for taking such detailed notes, saying that I "need to relax and not write a great big book about it [my headache]." He was not interested in what I had to say, preferring to attribute my condition to "anxiety," and was in a rush to simply prescribe me medications and get me out of his office. He never once asked which prescription medications I'm taking--there are 4 of them--and prescribed 4 new medications without a thought regarding possible drug interactions, nor would he listen to my concerns about possible side… effects. And if that wasn't bad enough, he told me that I should avoid taking ANY antidepressant medications because they could increase the risk of headache, without even inquiring into why I take--and MUST take--antidepressants in the first place, a very risky suggestion. My visit with Kattarathil was no more helpful in addressing my problem than a visit to an InstaCare would have been, though it cost almost twice as much. It was comparable in price to a visit to the E.R., which I had hoped to avoid in favor of seeing a physician one on one, for more personalized care and better results. In that regard, I was totally disappointed, and I'll probably have to add an E.R. bill to Kattarathil's fee anyway.
