Dr. Thomas William Kuhn, MD

I've been a patient for a couple of years now. Dr. Kuhn is great. We are in the times now where all the doctors have to sit down with there faces in front of a computer....which is unfortunate! But he still takes the time to listen and try to get the meds right. People need to remember the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist. The psychiatrist is there for the meds, a psychologist is there to sit and listen to your problems. But, you know a doctor cares when he takes the time to make a personal phone call.

He has done a great job and is very caring. Can’t always trust all online reviews. You never know why someone will leave a negative one. Could have told them something they didn’t want to hear. My experience has been very positive.

Did not listen to a word that I stated. Then his entire time looking at the computer and putting in notes. Seldom did he look up and actually talk to me. If you're desperate going to use him, but don't expect much.

I had about 4 or 5 visits with Dr. Kuhn and I liked him. He never seemed in a hurry (maybe why he's always running very late) and I thought he listened to me. However, at my last visit when I was feeling extremely depressed and hopeless, he asked me what I wanted him to do. When I responded that I didn't know; he was the doctor -- he told me that he couldn't help me. I left his office in tears. He didn't even renew my prescriptions (I was on 2 anti-depressants). I had to talk to 3 people to calm down enough to drive home. He set me back immensely. I had to wait 3 months to get an appointment with another psychiatrist. I will never go to Holland Hospital again.

Saw him five times. Not once was he ever on time. Each time I had an appointment he was at least 35-65 minutes behind, with multiple patients waiting on him past their scheduled time. This may sound exaggerated, I promise it is not. This being said, I was dropped as a patient for failing to show up to two appointments which I called ahead on and rescheduled - Primarily because I didn't have the time to sit and wait an hour past my scheduled time to see him.(I have two kids)

I have seen Dr. Kuhn for years and he is excellent. I would caution anyone reading a couple of the negative reviews here. Dr. Kuhn is an outstanding psychiatrist and possibly one of the best in our area. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable in his subject matter, but he truly cares for his patients. Anyone would be very lucky to be under his care.

I agree with other reviews in that he doesn't listen and seems to get 'stuck' on an idea or diagnosis. Insists I am bipolar after meeting 5 times. I have ADD, I am not bipolar.

Be prepared to have your thoughts and wishes totally disregarded. He has an agenda and if you don't stick with it your out of luck. Don't waste your time, it will be a wasted effort. I was worse after seeing him than I was before.

I have been seeing Dr. Kuhn for several years. He has always been very helpful and does seem to care about I am. I would recommend him to a friend.

wow, after reading the reviews, I decided I better give my opinion. Dr. Kuhn is a very quiet caring doctor. his insight helped me immensely two years ago. not sure what patients expected from him. He still follows me carefully. I do agree all psych are a bit "offish".
