Dr. Thomas M. Mazza, MD, FACS

Dr. Mazza squeezed me at the end of his day for an acute issue. He was very nice, good bedside manner and took lots of time before and after the procedure to discuss my case with me. Gave me great advice and insight that other doctors hadn't provided. If he weren't so far away, I would definitely go back but this was an acute situation and my surgeons were not available so I drove quite a distance to see Dr. Mazza. I would recommend him!

Dr Mazza was very personable and friendly in my office visit! He made me feel comfortable and was easy to talk to. He talked to me after my procedure and reviewed my release papers.

Dr Mazza is great. I've seen him for a surgical procedure and a colonoscopy. He is direct and straight to the point. He has great bedside manner and a great sense of humor. Office staff is polite and helpful.

Doctor Mazza was a pleasant guy and he really was convinced I had needed surgery a long time before i'd even gone to see him. Well, i chose him to be my surgeon and I had a Colectomy done. I was comfortable going into the surgery but after surgery was an entirely different story. I had many serious complications. My bowel would not work after surgery. I was unable to digest any food or liquid at all. I had the hiccups for at least 3 days straight until i finally vomited up everything that they had fed me after my surgery. It was horrible. I needed an NG tube to suck out all the contents from my stomach and even after that i still had no appetite. I couldn't get any answers as to what was going on and i literally felt like i was going to die. I have the pictures of what i looked like then. I was told to walk to reset my bowel, well that kind of worked but after that i was having bowel movements that consisted mostly of blood and some stool. I then needed 2 blood transfusions...Still no… answers from the staff or the doctor as to why my situation was like it was. Finally a week and a half later i was released, for whatever reason i still do not know, i still could barely eat before they released me at Harrisburg Hospital. I still have symptoms to this day. I got little help at follow up appointments and his collegue Dr. Sollenberger had no good answers either. I ended up losing more than 70 pounds after that surgery and feel no hunger, still, several months later. I'm not necessarily saying he botched my surgery or anything but i definatly almost died and if i could go back and do it over i'd obviously go elsewhere. Also, if i notice this review is gone, like it was deleted before then i will just call the AMA and complain. Have a nice day.

My 86 year old father was diagnosed with colon cancer and needed a bowel resection due to two tumors. Dr. Mazza exhibited the bedside manner we hope for but rarely see. From the initial consult to post surgery he has been extremenly helpful and patient. My father is not very familiar with mediacl procedures yet Dr. Mazza never exhibited any impatience or attitude at my Father's or my questions. Two weeks after this extensive surgery, Dad is home with no restrictions on food or activities and doing better than I have seen in a long time. I am having a routine colonoscopy shortly. If I ever encounter any problems like this I know I will be seeking Dr. Mazza as my surgeon. The entire staff have been extremely kind and helpful throughout. I can't think of one thing I could suggest for improvement. Congrats to all at Sollenberger Associates!
