Dr. Thomas James Meyer, MD

My daughter was hospitalized at Lankenau because her CO2 level was dangerously high. She had dystonia and lived at Inglis House. The problem was caused by Inglis House replacing linoleum the flooring in hallways with carpet, which made it difficult for my daughter to roll her manual wheelchair. She wasn’t breathing as deeply as she had before. Meyer told us that curing the dystonia would solve the CO2 problem. When I told him all of the meds and treatments that she already received, that her dystonia had not progressed and that I was knowledgeable because I was a dystonia support group leader for 17 years, he responded that my daughter would have to live on a ventilator for the rest of her life. My daughter was transferred to HUP’s pulmonary ICU, where the doctors listened to us and found the solution to the CO2 problem and prescribed PT to have her breathe deeply.She returned to Inglis House and didn’t need a ventilator. A few years later, my daughter was hospitalized at Lankenau… again. (911 calls have to go there from Inglis House. It’s the closest hospital.) Meyer had no idea how to treat her, so he told us that she was at the end of her life. My daughter’s excellent pulmonary and ENT doctors are at Penn. We got her transferred there and within an hour of arriving her ENT doctor called and told us that Meyer was wrong and she wasn’t at the end of her life. Avoid Meyer.

I know I need to lose weight but did not appreciate being told I was fat, without any effort to help me with weight loss

competent physician BUT the wait time is ridiculous! My time is as important as his. I have multiple appointments and have waited one hour plus to see him for my 15 minute appointment. Scheduling "70 patients in one day" is not realistic.

A real doctor that cares and helps . Don't judge the doctor by the wait time from the receptionist; he is worth the wait.

I have been a patient of Dr. Meyer for about 15 years and his patience, expertise and ability to connect my symptoms to what is really going on with me (I have asthma) is amazing. He is definately a physician I would recommend with absolutely no reservation at all- His staff is wonderful too. The Nurse Practioner, Melinda Milliken is tops also- even the office staff is tops- Highly recommend this doctor
