Dr. Thomas John Otto, MD

I had a total hip replacement by Dr. Otto 3 years ago. After being recommended to see him from 1 family member, 3 friends and over a dozen strangers I can say I made the right decision. He is an incredibly knowledgeable doctor that seems to truly care for his patients from the first time you meet, to the follow up calls (from him) a year later.

Direct, honest, highly skilled and effective surgeon. Very quick recovery, and no problems at all after 3 years. Still riding my bike. 72 years old male. His minimally invasive technique is best, IMO.

Dr. Otto called me personally with the results from my test and formulated a follow up program immediately. His bedside manner was great and I really felt like he listened to my concerns.

I have had both hips replaced by Dr. Otto at St. John's Mercy Medical Center. He is an excellent, knowledgeable surgeon who spent significant time with me, explaing the procedure and the aftercare. Follow-up visits have been easy and again, he reviews my e-rays with me and takes time to answer every question I have. I have recently visited him and had Synvisc injected into both of my knees. Again, he took the time to explain the procedure, discuss the pros and cons and didn't push me to make a discision. I have recommened Dr. Otto to several people I know.

Dr. Otto has the best bedside manners talked to me as if he cared did not rush me out the door. He gave me completed and all detail of my procedure. Dr. Otto has alot of knowledge about hip replacements. Instead of receiving a cut on the side of my leg that was 3 feet long, I just received a 2 inch cut on my binki line and 2 inch cut on my side above my hip side. Recovery was 4 weeks and went back to my office work. I may need knee surgery and Dr. Otto will be the man to do it. His a great doctor I refer him all the time.
