Dr. Thomas James Perry, MD

I had an ectopic pregnancy last year that burst and required surgery at 7 weeks. I recently became pregnant again and went into Shasta Community Maternity Center to start ruling out another ectopic (they’re likely to occur again) and was completely dismissed by one doctor who said they can’t do anything at all until I’m 7 weeks (which was when my last burst!). I was so upset and two days later I called again and they were able to get me an appt with Dr. Perry. This amazing man listened to me. He didn’t dismiss me, he took my high risk pregnancy history seriously and immediately did something about it. He went above and beyond, even calling me after hours, and calling the OB in the ER while he was seeing me to make sure I was okay at 8:30 pm. This is an amazing doctor right here and I am so sad that he’s semi retired, because Redding needs more great doctors like him

This man was by far the most inconsiderate Dr. I've come to meet. Gave my husband and I shame about coming in late and how most of the odds are because patients go so long without being checked out they loose the baby in child birth. He diagnosed us and said our child had an enlarged heart, told us we have come in contact with an STD, and said my child would die at birth. He prescribed medication for the "STD we came in contact with" and my pharmacist refused to let me take it due to the high rates of birth defects and deaths due to the meds. The poorest experience I've ever had in my life, didn't even show up while delivering or even before we were discharged. Sad part is now I'm too far along for any other OBGYN to take me on so I am forced to go through this facility again just to receive further care on my second pregnancy.

Frankly I'm shocked to see so many five star reviews. The first time I met this doc during my pregnancy he suggested I take a product with Benadryl in it to help my insomnia, despite the fact that my chart was open in front of him and it's documented that I'm allergic to Benadryl. When I was 39 weeks pregnant my baby was measuring near 11lbs. Dr. Perry breezed into the room while I was having an NST and told me my baby was measuring too big to deliver vaginally and told me that I had to have a c section or my baby's shoulder would get stuck and he would be paralyzed. I did NOT want a c section, I wanted a vaginal birth, but I was vulnerable and he scared me into agreeing. He acted like he was doing me a favor and said that after my second child he would petition the hospital to perform a tubal ligation - I NEVER said I wanted that, why even bring it up? I feel that he coerced me into a mandated c section and it has been hugely traumatic for me, I'm in therapy and am very depressed over… the experience, especially as this area's hospital does not offer feedback. Terrible doctor that pushes unnecessary, unwanted surgery, I wish he had never been involved in my "care"

Dr. Perry is outstanding. Caring, thoughtful and knowledgeable. I have total confidence! Great staff as well. I am grateful to have found himas my provider.

Dr. Perry is a very caring person, concerned with one's total and whole health besides the reproductive system! He is a fine Christian person that is most certainly "called" to be a doctor and shows it in his demeanor, knowledge, and care. I have trusted him for over 35 years and he has helped me with many of my "female" problems. I would certainly recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Perry is a wonderful doctor and I would go to him again.
