Dr. Thomas James Raih, MD

I was sent to this Dr for an IME (independent medical exam) as a result of a work comp injury. If you find yourself in the same situation, be very, very careful. I researched and checked with my attorney if I was able to have a witness accompany me for the IME. Yes, you are allowed a witness, but he and his staff told me no one could be with me and I had to meet with him alone. He then introduced his receptionist as a nurse. When I asked her if she was a RN or LPN she just looked at him with a look on her face of "what do I say?" He then admitted she wasn't a nurse. 2 bold face lies and the exam hadn't even started yet. There is a certain movement that has always caused me pain from the date of my injury. It was literally documented all over my medical record and therapy notes. Both were in his possession and he stated he had read them. He physically moved me into this painful position without warning me, causing excruciating pain. I had a very difficult time moving… after this as I continued to have severe pain. He then had the nerve to tell me that I wasn't being cooperative and was making it hard for him to exam me. In his report he denied that he had even done this. Another flat out lie. After he completed his exam he began questioning me about my private life. How many children I had, is my spouse healthy? Is my spouse working? What these questions had do with my injury I don't know. I had had an MRI 2 days before this exam and had just gotten the results the after noon before. He did not have the MRI results at the time of this exam yet informed me that I didn't need surgery. What he has basing this determination on I'm not sure. I found him to be unethical and amoral. He obviously works for the insurance company and has no regards for you as an injured person. If you are sent to him for an IME, prepare yourself well. Go into it informed. Take a trusted friend or family member to observe and take notes. PROTECT YOURSELF!! I would not send my worst enemy to him for any kind of treatment. If I could score him lower than 1 star I would.

Worst doctor I have ever seen. He definitely works for the insurance companies and not the patient. He still practices medicine like it is 1972, very outdated.

Repeated long waits for SCHEDULED post-op check up appointments. I'm talking 45 minutes to an hour just in the lobby, and then another 15-20 minutes waiting once actually in the room to meet the doctor. When the doctor finally gets in, it had never been more than a 5 minute "check up", which basically consisted of asking me how I felt, doing nothing to address my concerns, and then tell me to schedule another "check up" appointment. The man is running a business not a legitimate practice of medicine.

Dr. Raih was extremely respectful and caring. His team was wonderful and TCO is a great place to receive care!

This doctor is a joke. Stay away. Yes, you can count on these reviews for accurate information. I don't know how his bio reads like it does when he is such a rotten doctor. He went against the recommendations of five specialists at Mayo Clinic. He is not for the patient at all. He is for the money he gets out of it. I would never have him operate on me or somebody I cared about.
