Dr. Thomas John Raley, MD

I spent my life Living, Racing, Loving Fun and Falling. I coined the phrase "It only hurts if you live" I began treatment when OTC pain relievers began to hurt my body. I have been up, down, in and out of pain management and never to that end. As much as I need releif I dont like meds or the time and stigma involved, so I go in to get fixed and get out. I started seeing Dr Raley and ASAP about the time they came to Virginia. I have had diagnosis, meds, therapy, an internal stimulator in then out and ultimately a 3 level lumbar fusion. It hurt so bad I was sorry I awoke and in minutes Dr Raley sensed I was in more discomfort than most and immediately administered releif. The fusion was successful and I enjoyed years of my typical "fun hurts" pain. Then it started again at another level and after seeing some other than helpful centers and neurologist I went back to where I knew I could be fixed. I am in the midst of that now and Wow how things change. The technology Dr Raley and… team have invested in, new techniques and wonderful growing staff is impressive. One thing I feared changed has not, Dr Raley, his empathy, experience and availability are still there like I have never left. I am amazed at the growth and that his assistance/colleagues move around allowing me excellent options. I work and travel the DC beltway and its very easy to find a spot. I have had urgent needs and received same day appointments with Dr Raley and team staying late to see me and thats a rarity in this world. I would recommend this team in all ways and have had recent MRI to show his surgical ability is flawless. Even as I try to break the old hardware in my back and neck it is still perfect and the disc spacing better than pre-op. While I never look forward to having to enter pain management, I choose not to. So while a plan and correction is made I enjoy compassionate pain managmeny, understanding and care as I travel the road and exit. That is most important to me. While some enter longterm as we may need to others plan an exit andeapecially now with all the bad press some crappy Teams and laws allowed to develop. Thank You Dr Raley and all at ASAP. I am glad to be hating pain management in your care !!

Overcharged my insurance company for doing NOTHING then engaged in the illegal practice of balance billing. AVOID. See Dr McArthur at Inova or anyone else. THIS PLACE IS A DISGRACE AND A SCAM.

Dr.Raley is great. His recent staff additions however leave a lot to be desired. They are great at making a patient feel like a lower life form. Rude, uncariing and humiliatiing.not to mention rude.

Love Dr Raley and highly recommend him. he has been instrumental in keeping me active with all my back issues. I go to see him at both his McLean and Arlington locations. Never a problem with McLean staff, but the Arlington staff is horrible. Incredibly rude, enormous apathy, and downright mean spirited people. We patients are there because we are in pain and are looking for help from the minute we walk in. There's no room for anger in these situations and every staff member there should be removed from working with the general public. Unfortunately, Dr Raley has to keep his heavy equipment in Arlington and I have no choice but to go to him there. Beware and be prepared if you have to see this terrible, angry staff in Arlington.

He is an excellent doctor. He diagnosed the cause of my sciatica, performed surgery, and I walked out of the operating facility. He has a wonderful bedside manner and a great sense of humor. I highly recommend him.

Dr.Raley is a great doctor. I have had trouble with my back for over 6 yrs. And after seeing him, it is the most pain relieve I have had in over 6 yrs. I've never had a problem getting a appointment and my calls are always returned quickly.

there is a new dr that is a psychiatrist. If u value your life do not go see him. I went for a first visit and he just criticized me. Then threatened to to have me to have me commited me if i didnt take some random medication. Hes probally getting paid to prescribe certian meds. There is something very wrong about this man. Beware and dont see any psychiatrist at this practice.

My wife goes here for treatment of fractured vertebrae in her back and all the staff are wonderful. Dr. Raley has been especially helpful in getting my wife back to a more functional state with his treatment. I would recommend everyone who needs treatment of a spinal injury give this place a chance.

Very very happy with DR. Ralays Care. I could barely walk with a bad L5S1 back issue. He has given me hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel to get this resolved.
