Dr. Thomas C Richards

Dr. Richards is a 1975 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he earned his B.S. degree in Microbiology and Biophysics. While at Pitt, he was initiated into the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and remains active in both alumni associations of his University and his Fraternity. He graduated in 1979 from Temple University Dental School, now known as the Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. He continued his post graduate education at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh where he completed a one year general practice residency that included rotations through the University of Pittsburgh Dental School Post Graduate Studies as well as operating room rotations in the Oral and Maxillofacial Department of the Hospital.
In 1980 Dr. Richards moved to upstate New York and joined into an established private dental practice partnership located in the small village of Altamont, NY just outside of the state capital of Albany. There he …spent the next fifteen years. During those years he met his future wife Colleen and they subsequently married in 1982. They raised two children over the years, who are now both adults.
In 1995, after selling his partnership interest in his successful practice in New York State, Dr. Richards relocated to the Northern Virginia City of Manassas, where he established a new start up dental practice. He has been practicing at his present location since 1996. Dr.Richards has been recognizedby the International Association of Dentists, The Consumer's ResearchCouncil of America andhas been featured in the Northern Virginia Magazine as one ofthe "Top Dentists" in Northern Virginia. He has continued to increase his body of professional knowledge through various continuing education venues. Dr. Richards is involved with his local Manassas Dental Study Club and has served as a past President of the Club. He has obtained Level I and II Certification in the orthodontic technique known as “Invisalign” to straighten teeth with invisible braces. He has also been a long term provider of the same day ceramic crown technique called CEREC by Sirona Dental. This amazing computer assisted design and manufacturing process cuts in half the number of dental appointments required to provide the high quality ceramic restorations desired by patients who want the best in dental care.
Dr. Richards is very active in both his professional and local communities. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association and The Northern Virginia Dental Society. He feels strongly about giving back to the community and is a provider of free dental care to the underprivileged through such organizations as “Mission of Mercy” program and “Donated Dental Services” sponsored by the Virginia Dental Association.
Of course life is not all about work and Dr. Richards enjoys his free time with family and friends. He is an athletic supporter of his beloved Pitt Panther football program and has been a fan ever since his graduation from his alma mater, the University of Pittsburgh. He is an avid golfer and routinely competes in local amateur golf tournaments. Dr. Richards is also an avid car enthusiast. His current sports car interest is a yellow 2004 Chevy Corvette ZO6.  Don’t mention any subject about cars unless you have a few minutes to talk with him on the newest trends in the automotive world.
