He misdiagnosed a perfectly normal and patent endarterectomy that he did the day before (an elective out patient surgery) with a poor quality bedside ultrasound that gave a false reading of a total occlusion of that carotid artery. Rather than repeat the test, get a second opinion, consult another physician, do any other testing or even consider that my mom was coherant and walking he rushed her into the OR the next day to “fix” it.
