Dr. Thomas Scott Royster, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Royster's for approximately 6 yrs. On multiple occasions the office staff attempted to over charge for appointments. On one occasion, I literally had my insurance on speaker to explain to them how to charge. I can't believe the office manager hasn't already destroyed Dr. Royster's practice. She is condescending and rude if you try to explain your concern. If you are considering this medical practice, Read their rules and payment expectations carefully. I believe Dr. Royster cares about his patients but is either oblivious to office management patient care or chooses to ignore complaints in preference to the almighty dollar. My family and I will seek family care elsewhere!!

So very glad to have such a good family doctor for the last 15 years or so. Always concerned and helpful along with a friendly staff. We are treated as family every time.

If anyone has a problem with Dr Royster it is surly yours. We have been going to him for years and he is excellent. A very professional and caring staff. Never a long wait and appointments are made quickly.??

The office staff for Doctor Thomas S. Royster is beyond horrible. If there was less than one star that is what I would have chosen. They said I had to schedule a different appointment for each complaint. I had an appt and they refused to let me discuss lab results during that appt. That is a complete rip off. They obviously want to charge the Insurance for more than 1 office visit. They then canceled the appointment I did have and did not notify me what they had done. I leave work and go to my appointment. After waiting for 15 minutes in the waiting room the office manager calls me back and says they have discharged me as a patient due to me not accepting them to scheduling multiple appointments for every complaint. She was extremely rude. While leaving a lady in the waiting room asked me a question and I was responding to her, the office manager came out and stated she would call the police if I did not leave their premises. She did not want me letting the others know how… they had treated me. I will spread it far and wide. I intend on making it a mission to get the word out to everyone!!!!!! Be aware of this office. The Doctor seems nice, but his office manager will eventually ruin him.

My grown children love Dr. Royster. He's thorough and easy to talk to. However, it's very difficult to reach a receptionist as they have very limited hours to answer the phone.

Dr. Royster has been our family doctor for many, many years. He is very thorough and very caring. He does not hesitate to bring in a specialist if needed. Wonderful diagnostician!

Dr. Royster is a good doctor - his office staff, however, should go to training on customer service. I had left the practice because I had moved away. When I moved back, the office manager refused to accept me. Unbelievable! Stay Away from this office. They also do not return phone calls in a timely manner and usually when you call them it goes to voicemail.

Really donâ??t want to blame the good reviewers below and i donâ??t usually write review but in this case i was totally disappointed in this person. I had a good Family physician but due to distance i want to change and i got my first appointment with him. 1) The office is neat but record maintenance or other thing, still they are stuck in 1980 2) Front staffs really donâ??t have much knowledge on the current insurance trends/rude/just trying to please their doctor where he has to move and sit etc. 3) Coming to the doctor. Wow ! i expected a good knowledge and explain things to my problem. All he did is write (record in 1980 style) about my issues on a paper and just said will get an appointment to the specialist, and asked any other issues ? Kidding me? - I can ask my friend to write that notes why a doctor ? 4) He may be good for general fever and cold but sure not more than that. 5) The fun part is his insurance claim, he is 2-3 times more than any best doctor charges (even… more than specialist).Spoke to my insurance and even they were surprised on his charges but they said the code he claimed is what make the difference. Wondering taking notes can cost so much ? I am glad i dint transfer my record from my previous physician (he is best doctor and I am glad dint loose him for distance)

I have been a patient of Dr. Royster since 1992 (with a few years break in between). He was the first doctor who was able to FINALLY get my blood pressure under control right away! He makes you feel at ease and listens carefully to what you have to say. He asks questions and you feel as though you are the only patient he has! His manner is calm and comforting, yet you know he is listening to every word and evaluating what needs to be done. He is a Christian who truly allows God to work through him, and it shows! It's wonderful to see this in a physician...NO God complex! It IS true that it's hard to get someone to answer the phones in the afternoon, but I'm sure it has to do with the fact that they see truly sick (i.e., contagious) patients only in the afternoon. My assumption is they are putting all of their efforts into their care. They DO check messages and have called me back on the same day (usually after they close). I'm sure if I was contagious and feverish and left that… message, I would get a call back the same day. Because Dr. Royster is THAT good, he is packed with patients and HAS to have some sort of system to manage everyone, and giving his immediate attention to his sickest patients. Don't go to him if you are searching for pain management, but if you need a great doctor... he's your guy! My family and I praise God for leading us to him!

I truly love this doctor. My husband and I are both seen by him and he is wonderful. I see by reading the reviews he may no longer be taking patients, so I feel very lucky to be one of the few that is seen. The ONLY complaint I have with him would be trying to reach someone at the office. They have super-strict rules about when they take calls, so I have to literally set an alarm on my phone and on my computer to remind me to call. It just seems like a part-time person could answer the phone in the afternoons and at least schedule appointments, but.... If you are available to play their "phone games" then he will be a wonderful doctor for you and your family. If not, then you may want to find someone else.
