Summary
Why did I choose Emergency Medicine?
I enjoy caring for patients with new problems or sudden worsening of existing problems. I think caring for patients with acute is what our medical system in the United States does best and I feel privileged contributing in this manner. My work in caring for patients with new and challenging problems in the Emergency Department gives me great satisfaction both professionally and personally.
What is Emergency Medicine?
Emergency Medicine is the care of acute problems in the specialized setting of the Emergency Department. Some of the problems are life threatening while others involve a painful problem such as a broken bone. Emergency Departments are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.
In the Sacramento and Roseville Kaiser Permanente Emergency Departments you will only find physicians specially trained in the medical specialty of Emergency Medicine as well as specially trained nurses and support staff.
Do I ever work in the clinic?
…I sometimes get asked if I do clinic work and if I could be someone’s personal physician. This makes me proud of the care that I delivered since it was good enough for someone to consider me as their ongoing primary care giver. I only work in the Emergency Department and do not have a panel of patients which I see in the clinic.
