Dr. Thomas James Smitherman, MD

Since my husband is a patient of his, I was hoping to change Dr’s since mine retired. After getting my information, she informed me that space was limited and she would have to check with the Dr. for approval. After almost 2 weeks, I received a call back saying I was approved to see the Nurse Practitioner. If I wanted a nurse practitioner, I would have called one. I would have rather them say he’s not taking any more patients.

Was not told to fast before coming in then nurse practitioner told me they couldn't do labs so they wouldn't refill my blood pressure medication. Dr. Smitherman was great last time I saw him but nurse practitioner was not helpful and did not seem to understand that taking off work twice in a month for blood pressure med refill is not doable.

He is the most caring doctor ever.

Really love the availability of this doctor that shares an office with two other physicians. I always get there early and I am always waiting until after my appointment time to be taken back. I then wait another 15-30 min for his to actually come to the room. He's a great doctor. His nursing and office staff are great but the wait times are way too excessive in my opinion.

I highly recommend this physician to my friends and family. He really listens. I think he is a very good doctor.
