Dr. Thomas Laton Spray, MD

27 years ago we were told our son was a great candidate for a new heart repair. Dr Spray offered our new born baby boy hope. At four months old, surgery was a success. One week of recover then, and now 26 1/2 years later, he lives a very ordinarily, athletic life with no complications. We have been told more than once that for us to have Dr Spray back then as a surgeon, was perfect timing.

He operated open heart surgery on my 3 year old son. Even though chances of rick is very minimal in the type of surgery it was performed but being parents we were very much scared. But Dr. Thomas Spray made us very comfortable during our first pre operative meet and some how I felt that my son is in best hands. Finally, my belief was not wrong. What ever he assured before the surgery, everything happened accordingly. He gave second life not just to my son but to our entire family.

Dr. Spray, in my humble opinion, is the greatest pediatric heart surgeon on the planet. He has saved the life of both my sons, one of whom has had three separate open heart surgeries, (the most recent being Feb. 6, 2018) all led by Dr. Spray. His incredible speed, dexterity, precision, and ability to make the complex understandable when addressing those of us without a medical background, all undertaken with amazing humility is second to none. Dr Spray saved our baby daughter's life and we are so greatful that we were close to CHOP and he was available. All CHOP surgeons we're sure are excellent but knowing that we handed our daughter to Dr Spray we knew we were with the best.

Our daughter was premature and 3 pounds when Dr Spray performed her first surgery for HRHS in 2005. We flew from Charlotte, NC on a medical jet to give our daughter her fighting chance. He has since performed 2 more planned heart surgeries, and we will return to CHOP when she is due for her pacemaker. His hands, or his teams hands, are the only ones that will touch our daughters heart! Thank You Dr Spray, we are truly blessed!!

Dr. Spray operated on our daughter when she was 5 months old. She had TOF and a complete AV canal defect. Her anatomy was unusual in relation to these defects and Dr. Spray had to think on his feet in the OR to make sure that her repair was successful. She is now almost 2 years old and thriving. We are so grateful for Dr. Spray and his gifted hands and ability to adjust mid-surgery to ensure our girl did well.

My 10 year old had an open heart surgery almost 3 years ago for DCRV correction and we are so blessed to have found such a skilled doctor to operate on my child. He is an exceptionally skilled surgeon.
