Education and experience
Dr. Tilson has been practicing as a specialist in orthodontics in Olympia since 1994. He completed his undergraduate education at San Diego State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in science with honors. He continued on to receive his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Marquette University’s School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Tilson also speaks Spanish fluently.
Dr. Tilson earned a commission into the United States Navy and was accepted into its general practice residency program at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California. This is an honorable program to which only a few are chosen to receive medical and advanced dental training. After this training, he was stationed on the USS Ogden where he was the sole dental officer on board.
After Dr. Tilson’s seven-year military service, he …entered graduate school at The Ohio State University, earning his Certificate in Orthodontics and Master of Science degree. He also earned a certificate from the Columbus Ohio Children’s Hospital for his two years of patient treatment in the Dentofacial and Craniofacial Clinic, where he treated numerous patients with cleft lip and cleft palate.

Outside the office
Dr. Tilson and his wife are the proud parents of three children. He enjoys spending time with his family at their small family farm, snowboarding, and camping in the Pacific Northwest. He is also an avid college football fan and loves music. He is currently trying to teach himself how to play the guitar.
