Dr. Thomas Arthur Upshaw, MD

I'm writing about my experience with Dr. Upshaw regarding the treatment he provided to my father. My father sought psychiatric care and was given prescriptions with alarming frequency and little apparent clinical consideration. Dr. Upshaw prescribed medications that were contraindicated for my father's conditions, often in combinations that created dangerous interactions. When my father expressed desire for additional substances, rather than exercising clinical judgment, these were frequently approved and added to his regimen. Over time, what began as legitimate treatment needs transformed into a severe substance dependency that has devastated his health, relationships, and life stability. The prescribing pattern showed no evidence of proper monitoring, adjustment, or concern for the cumulative effects of these medications. My father went from a functional adult seeking help to someone with a crippling addiction directly traceable to this physician's reckless prescribing practices.… The damage has been profound and lasting. If you're considering this provider, I strongly urge caution. Psychiatry requires careful judgment, not reflexive prescription approval. My father's case is evidence of what happens when that professional responsibility is abandoned.

I've been to countless doctors and psychiatrist over the last 18 years and haven't been satisfied with any of their philosophies or way or handling my disorders. Dr. Upshaw has been the exception and extremely satisfied with his kindness and plan of attack for treatment. I have seen Dr. Upshaw for six years. His staff is exceptional. Personally I have developed a real relationship with him and truly trust him. He is allways checking out alternative ways to address problems. He is continually suggesting and seeking ways to connect the mind and body. He’s not your typical DR. He’s worth every penny

I've been seeing him for quite awhile now. I truly think he cares about his patients, but I often wonder if he hears what I'm truly saying. I like him enough not to switch, but I guess I often wish he gave more clear cut answers to questions I ask him about meds rather than relating them to the 12 steps or saying how they are affecting me. I already very much understand how they affect me. As my doctor, I often wish for information and statistics about the medications I'm being prescribed so I know what obstacles I face in the future if I choose to wean off if them. I guess I just wish for more up to date knowledge about the drugs in general that he's giving out. When I ask, I feel my questions are glossed over...

Dr. Upshaw is the most down to earth easy to talk to Dr I've ever been to. Very passionate and concerned for my well being and makes going to the doctor more fun than what it really is.

QUACK..... He is very desparate for "customers" and it shows. He must recieve kick backs on the suboxen because he LOVES writing it even tho hes flat clueless. Will only go to him from now on bc its more convient then my other deal. Its sad but if he did more studying SOMETHING people could relate more and actually learn to get clean

Think of a duck. QUACK....quack.....quack. Worthless in his field. More suited to being a patient rather a doctor. Talks more about HIMSELF than anything!!!
