Summary
Dr. Vasileff came to Alaska and joined AFOC in 1981. He grew up in St. Louis, attended medical school at St. Louis University, and completed his residency at the University of Oklahoma where he trained under the "Father of Sports Medicine", the legendary Don ODonohue. He continues to have a strong interest in sports medicine, including arthroscopy and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. His personal experience as an avid runner has helped him treat his athlete patients. Dr. Vasileff does many total knee and hip replacements. He also has an interest in trauma, and continues to take emergency calls at both Alaska Regional and Providence hospitals. Dr. Vasileff has volunteered in both Peru and Africa with the Health Volunteers Overseas organization (HVO). He was the Alaska state representative to the national American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Board of Councilors for six years. He served as president of the Anchorage Orthopedic Society and the Alaska State Orthopedic Society. …He was chairman of the orthopedic departments at both Providence Hospital and Alaska Regional Hospital. He is on the board of Alaska Physicians and Surgeons, is a clinical instructor for the Alaska Family Practice Residency Program, an affiliate Professor / Team Physician for UAA, and he volunteers at the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center.
