Dr. Thomas Robert Walker, MD

We've only seen Dr Walker two times so far, but each time I've been thoroughly impressed. His bedside manner can't be beat. He talked directly to my 5 year old in a direct way as well to ensure he understands his role in things. He communicated his understanding of the issue we deal with (chronic constipation) in a very clear way and was very emphatic with the entire situation. He communicated his understanding of the matter's ins/outs - which lined up exactly with how I've read/felt about things as well. He did not send me off with a "good luck" type of a way - but with a "I'm here to support you / help you / we'll get through this" way. I couldn't recommend a Dr more highly.

Dr. Walker has an excellent bedside manner. he spent one hour and 10 minutes talking with us about our 4 year old son who has an impacted bowel. He was kind, gentle and just an amazing Dr. who is very knowledgable. I am grateful that we found such an awesome Dr. who knows what he is talking about. Highly reccommend this Dr. if you can get in with him!

When we met Dr Walker he presented himself well and seemed a competent doctor and from all indications was a leader in pediatric gastroenterology. Children's has a reputation for being one of the best hospitals in the country so it was with dismay and surprise that we would encounter such detrimental care as we received in the hands of Dr. Walker. My child contracted a virus that set off her celiac symptoms. Usually proper diet controls these symptoms and in our case my child's blood tests confirmed that her titers were in check meaning her symptoms were not coming from a contaminated diet which is often the case. (Not the parent's fault)We had months of visits, tests and follow ups. He could not figure out what was wrong. And rather than state such he concluded her symptoms were all manifested and in her head! For 7 months my child was in pain and agony. She suffered debilitating stomach aches. Within this time she had completely stopped growing!, including her hair and her… two front teeth which she had lost just before, failed to grow in over 7 months time. As part of his official diagnosis he insisted we have her see a psychologist. I had to beg for pain medication when he after 7 months! offered a referral to the Pain Clinic at CH. Ignoring his stupidity we made the first appt avail. to the pain clinic- 6 months later! Luckily there was a cancelation and we were able to get in sooner. The wonderful doctor there, Dr. Sethna prescribed a simple pain med that has worked wonders. My daughter no longer is in daily pain. She grew 3 inches in 3 months following getting on the pain meds. That's more than a year's worth of growing in only 3 months and for a celiac patient this is unbelievable growth. Dr Walker put my family through a 7 month nightmare which could have been life long for my daughter if we took his advice. Sadly after forwarding her progress from the pain clinic he never bothered to follow up with us even though she was his patient nor did he ever apologize to us or our daughter. There was no accountability whatsoever.
