Dr. Thomas Brian Whalen, MD

Had shoulder surgery in Ocala with this doctor as my anesthesiologist. (He now works in Ocala, too.) Gave me some sort of "block" injection (can't remember the name of it) before surgery that kept me comfortable until the next day. Worked great. Thorough explanation of what he was going to do ahead of time. Felt good when I woke up after surgery. Had a nurse anesthetist who was also great. Preop nurse was very nice..

Dr.Whalen was my anesthesiologist for a recent back surgery. I was nervous about waking up with a great deal of pain...but happy my pain was minimal and no nausea. I was able to go home an hour after surgery. Dr.Whalen is very compassionate and truly is concerned about the outcomes of his patients.

Has taken car of me a few times now. Always does a great job.

i was really nervous about my surgery but mostly scared of the anesthesia. Felt a lot better about everything after he explained that he was going to take good care of me... Even asked me where my favorite vacation spot was so I would have something nice to think about before going off to sleep. Woke up fine and not in pain, and didn't have any problems whatsoever.

He did the anesthesia for my total knee replacement both times. The "blocks" he did for pain relief after the surgery were really great.
