Dr. Thomas Martin Whelan, MD

I have been coming to this practice for over 10 years so I am very disappointed with what I am about to write. I have a medical exemption for wearing a mask which was signed by a doctor. Brookfield Family Medicine is refusing me service unless I wear a mask. This is medical discrimination and I will be finding a new primary care doctor.

I had a medical crisis earlier this year and needed to be seen but wanted ER to be the last straw. My specialist was on vacation so I called Dr Whelan’s office. He didn’t have any availability but the receptionist understood the urgency and presented my problem to him. After a few minutes of holding, the receptionist came back to tell me that Dr Whelan said that I was to get in my car and come to the office as he was going to fit me into his full schedule so that I didn’t have to go to the ER. He gives his undivided attention and listens intently, is never distracted. He gives you the time you need and deserve, and also takes time to be thorough in every aspect from his questions to his explanations and descriptions to diagnoses and prescriptions. He truly cares about his patients.

I have found Dr. Whelan to be a patient, attentive listener, which many doctors are not. He takes the time to explain everything and answers all questions. He is respectful and never condescending. I would and have recommended him to others.

Several months ago I picked dr Whelan to be my provider as my prior PMD had left the area. Went in for my yearly physical and had to date my most thorough history, physcial exam as well as follow up. I am a physician assistant by trade. Could not be happier. CB

I found Doc Whelan very thorough and attentive. He asked a lot of questions and so did I. He answered all of them.

Discounted symptom report from upper thigh glass shard puncture wound and yet told me it was just "like a stab wound". Discounted my hx report of NSAID induced esophageal ulceration and hiatal hernia. Told me to "quadruple" doseage of OTC NSAID. Curt, dismissive. I felt so small when I left...like I had done something wrong. I already felt like an idiot for leaning into a long, sharp shard of glass in our under-the-stairs crawl space! (This review wras based on an emergent visit to the Park City Instacare center on Bonanza....perhaps urgent care not the best application of this doc's skill-set....had a very, very good experience with another doc at the same facility two years ago).

He did a great job stitching up a major gash in my lip. Very gentle. He made a point of telling me each thing he was going to do before he did it.

uninformed prescription for thyroid and testosterone replacement, latter dangerous. no communication or followup for vit-d deficiency, even tho i am 81 and had imbalance and was using a cane for the first time, and was falling. he will not acknowledge his serious failure. he discounts patient's urgent information from the internet.

Belittling and aguementive before I even had a chance to speak. Did not take the time to look at my chart before assuming I was a unintellengent hypocondriac. UNBELIEVABLE!
