Dr. Thomas Albert Willingham, MD

I've seen Dr. Willingham for nearly a decade, and he is the only psychiatrist (especially in the area) who I trust. His advice and medication recommendations have never steered me wrong. He cares what's happening in the lives of his patients, too. What I especially like: Dr. Willingham encourages patients to participate in their wellness plans. He also is NOT a pill-pusher. He is very conservative when he prescribes and seeks to find the best dose that works for the individual patient. Sure, he's a bit quirky but he's a good guy and a great doc.

Dr. Willingham was my doctor for about 3 years,in the late 1980's, when he practiced in New Orleans,LA.He truly helped me and I feel without having him as my doctor, I would not be the person that I am today.He is attentive and compassionate yet he also will call you out if you try to avoid dealing with your issues.Dr. Willingham, Thank You so much for all you did for me. I wish you were still here in Louisiana.

Before you allow any doctor to treat you or your loved one, please do adequate research. Network through your friends and family to find out any information you can. DO NOT trust your GP or family physician for a reccommendation, and if your instincts say that something is wrong, please trust them,

It's hard to get an appointment with Dr. Willingham (he's only in the office 3 days a week b/c he also does forensic psychiatry). It's well worth the wait, though. He spends about an hour with his patients -- in contrast to the typical 10-15 minutes most psychiatrists spend. He treated my spouse with compassion and respect, and -- most importantly -- he's very clinically sound. He has a reputation for being current on and knowledgeable about medication. Dr. Willingham and the rest of the staff at the Beacon Clinic are all excellent.
