I too am a Medicare patient with limited income. After a gum planing, they called me back to see a "gum specialist". Dr. Yon hardly looked at my mouth, then had his asst. break down the complex and expensive procedure that would have cost $5000 out of pocket IF Medicare approved- it didn't because this specialist is not in network. The office knows this. The staff really tried to push this "much needed" procedure. On all 4 quadrants? Really? That would have cost well over $15,000 because Medicare would not pay.. REALLY ask financial questions before procedures with this office. But if you are assertive and get questions answered, they are friendly and helpful.

His 82 year old patient on minimal fixed Medicare income went in for a general checkup and without any anesthesia at all has a posterior filling done for over $200 with the Doctor and office staff knowing that her insurance would not cover resin fillings in the back of the mouth. Really necessary? Wouldn't it be nice for her to know this prior so she could decide if she really needed the filling?
