Dr. Thulani Stewart, MD

I went in for extreme levels of cramping far beyond the normal levels of pain one should experience on their period. I waa having to knock myself out for at least a day with muscle relaxers. I was told "all women have some cramping" and completely dismissed no matter how much O tried to explain that feeling basically labor pains every month was NOT NORMAL. I mentioned maybe it was PMDD or Endometriosis. He told me "If you think you have PMDD then you should see a therapist/psychiatrist and have them prescribe you antidepressants" I asked him how that has anything to do with my cramps, he basically said how the pain is likely all in my head. I'm a medical zebra and am in pain 24/7...I have a rather high pain tolerance, it's not in my head. He then ordered a pelvic ultrasound only after I insisted I wanted to figure out what was going on. He told me coldly off the bat that day "We aren't going to have answers for you today" and then later "look, I can go in there and take anything out,… but it will likely just cause more pain and problems for you" I never once mentioned a hysterectomy mind you. After the test, I was told I would be called within 3 days to reveal/discuss the results. I saw them the next day through mychart yet didn't recieve a call for a day shy of a month. The call was from a nurse telling me how she had good news because the ultrasound results were normal (they were not. The word "prominent" isn't used on a test result where they find nothing) I demanded a second opinion from a woman after that call, and the nurse was disgusted with the doctors actions. My new female doctor put me on birth control (something THIS doctor never even MENTIONED as an option for treating my period pain/pmdd) and what do you know, the cramps became managable. It's amazing how much your care improves when you have doctors who actually listen and believe you rather than dismissing you. My impression with this doctor makes me fear for every woman he looks after, because I'm sure he's doing more harm than good if he treats all his patients this way. Nice is different than good. Always remember that and advocate for yourself.

Dr. Stewart went over and beyond to make my pregnancy memorable and comfortable. I will always hold a deep respect for him as a physician and a person. He comes highly recommended in my book!

For my first (and only) pregnancy I looked up physicans in Jackson, TN to decided on an OBGYN. I made an appointment with Dr. Thulani Stewart at about 6 weeks into my pregnancy. I can say with confidence I have never felt so comfortable and well taken care of by any other doctor. Dr. Stewart listened to my every concern and was there for me the entire 9 months of pregnancy, without any issue. He is a remarkable, compassionate, and highly intelligent physican. He is very easy to talk to so with this being my 1st pregnancy, he put all my fears to rest and made me feel at ease. At the hospital when I was about to give birth to my doctor, when I saw Dr. Stewart walk in the room I felt a sense of relief because I trusted him and I knew he was going to take good care of me. He is an excellent OBGYN and I cannot say enough about the positive experiences I had while in his care during my pregnancy and after. He is very helpful and courteous to all his patients and really addresses all your… concerns.

I think he is a nice Doctor patient and kind to others needs I would highly reccommend Dr.Stewart.He has excellent oral communication and he is very professional
