Dr. Timothy James Backiewicz

First off let me start by saying almost the entire staff is absolutely amazing. They are very friendly and they keep files on everyone, not just on their medical history, but what's going on with your personal life. So when you go in for a cleaning (like I have for several years) you can pick the conversation right up where you left off. It was my favorite part about visiting the dentist. All that changed, however, when I was told I needed a filling in one of my back molars. Now, I do fine with cleanings, but anything that requires a drill gives me an incredible amount of anxiety. Dr. Tim is sympathetic, and prescribes medication to help me get through it. Good deal. So I go in and have the filling done. Well, a few months later I'm in pain. So I have to get it redone. Few months after that, my x-rays show the filling (that was fixed twice now) wasn't completely sealed, and now I may have damage to the root. They go and fill it a 3rd time. Now, I mentioned I have anxiety during any… dental procedure that involves a drill. I was sweating like crazy during my 3rd procedure. Dr. Tim wipes my forehead and starts mocking me for being so nervous. Like seriously dude, I'm halfway to a panic attack and you're joking about it. Well, after he finished that filling, guess what: he messed it up for the 3rd time. I tell him I'm still in pain, so he takes an x-ray. Dr. Tim says the x-ray looks fine, and it's probably just my gums healing. Couple weeks later I go and get a 2nd opinion with a new dentist. He takes 1 look at the repair(s) Dr. Tim made and says to me "Good Lord, an actual dentist did this to you?". I'm not even kidding. My new dentist apologized for Dr. Tim's shoddy work, and even said this was an embarrassment to the profession. My new dentist was able to fix the mess Dr. Tim made to this tooth, but it took about 3hrs to do it. Also, his bedside manner didn't involve mocking people who are clearly in a lot of anxiety. So if you need a dental cleaning, this place is great. But if Dr. Tim comes anywhere near you work a drill, you run, and run far.

We have been with Dr Backiewicz for 14 years and can not take his verbal abuse anymore. He refuses to listen to the problem you are having or tells you one thing and when you remind him of what he told you he argues with you. My 16 year old refused to go to the dentist for over a year because Dr Backiewicz was mean and a horrible dentist. She was finally in pain for 2 months and had an abscess so we went in to see him. We worked to get the infection & swelling under control so by the time we got in to see him he took 45 seconds to look in her mouth, saw the swelling was better and wanted to send us on our way. When I questioned him about the pain she was in he argued with me and said I did not mention her pain. Yes I did!! He continued to argue and was a complete jerk to us!! As it turned out she needed a root canal and a crown. The crown was done by a dentist we went to that used to work for him that he ran out of his practice. The staff there, dentists and huge gists are… constantly changing as they can’t stand to work for him. We gave him the benefit of the doubt for way too long. So we have changed practices. And we are so happy we did!! Only see Dr Tim Backiewicz if you want to be verbally abused, over charged and given procedures you do not need. Worst Dentist ever!!

New Albany family dentistry is truly about family. Our family schedules our time out for 1 morning or afternoon, and they are very accommodating. I have 2 boys with Autism, which Dr. Tim and our dental hygenist take the time with them, and interacts with them...I can say I have 2 kids that love going to the dentist. They entire staff is so personable...they make you feel at home. I highly recommend a visit!

Brittany performs most the of cleaning and evaluation - she is wonderful! She listens to my concerns and comes up with various options to meet my needs. She is very sweet and always makes my check-ups a positive experience. Dr. Tim always comes in with a smile and a quick check. I am very happy with this dental practice!

I appreciate the time they spend explaining dental options and the importance of having healthy teeth. My family’s overall experience has been outstanding I recommend them for patients of all ages.

Awful dentist! Took a lot of numbing medicine to work and bad bedside manor. Would not recommend. He is only out for money and changes staff all the time!

Dr. Tim and his team at New Albany Family Dentistry are some of the most amazing people that I have had the pleasure of getting to know over the past few years. I was a person that was afraid of the dentist and kept putting it off for years. My smile suffered greatly because of it. Dr. Tim made a difference, He listened, I mattered to him and so did my smile. After a lot of work , on his part and mine .... I am confident in my smile again and walk into the office knowing that I will be taken care of like family. Not a number. They know me by name, They care, and my smile could not be bigger. My experience was a nightmare. He must have been on drugs . Before I realized it , he had alctally drilled my good tooth , the one next to the one that needed treatment and then went to the actual one . Then had to get a root canal done on the one he treated . He put a golden crown which is still very painful . I still live with the pain everyday !!!!! He should not be practicing .

Having a bad dental experience from childhood, I hardly went to a dentist unless I desperately needed a tooth pulled. So I'm desperate today....wife got me in with Dr.Tim...he was wonderful ....kind.. understanding ....talked me thru procedure...the BEST dental treatment I have EVER received. THANK YOU Dr.Tim ....you are officially my dentist now !!
