Great doctor. Only doctor my late husband would see after his first visit. We started going to Dr. Brelje right after he came to Harlan and I still go to him. As long as I am in Harlan or IF I move, am close enough I will keep him as my primary doctor.

He has been my doctor for 21 years now. He has always been straight forward with me and my family. That is a great doctor i wouldnt want a doctor to sugar coat anything. He tells the truth!!!

Think twice before going to Dr Brelje....he's the most sued doctor in town. He has ignored critical patients, insulted more patients (and parents/family members) than you can count, made countless incorrect diagnosis, over prescribed pain medications and ignored pleas of a patient trying to get off the Rx's he over prescribed (she has passed away...lawsuit pending). I have 2 friends who have permanent damage to their wrists from his bad treatment. I personally was threatened with a visit from child services for not allowing him to do an appendectomy...my child had STOMACH FLU!! He's rude, arrogant, insulting, and has no bedside manner. Save your life...NEVER see him!!

Dr Brelje seemed distracted and in a hurry. I wanted to see him @ The Harlan Iowa location but needed to drive to Avoca IA instead. My youngest son wasn't feeling well; he had been complaining of an earache and wasn't sleeping well. (I have 4 other children, I know when they need to see a doctor.) Dr Brelje seemed annoyed that I was wasting his time and insisted my son was fine, all of my childs sysmtoms were due to allergies, this was annoying when 3 days later Dr Klitgaard diagnoised my son with a inner earach! I spoke with the hospital admistrator and I won't be charged for Dr Brelje's visit...word of advice, See Dr. Donald Klitgaard he much happier and listens.

The only reason it takes so long to get an appointment with him is if you wait too long, because he is such a good doctor, that he has a lot of patients and we are a small town. It is fine if you schedule in advance, like my kids' well child checks, but if we get sick out of the blue, he is usually booked from being such a good doctor.
