The first time I walked into Dr. Byrd’s office, I was suffering from depression, low self-esteem, and an eating disorder. Dr. Byrd treated me as an inpatient and outpatient for many years, and always with respect and fairness. Did he only tell me what I wanted to hear? No, but my family had done that for years with no success. He cares for his patients and knows precisely the treatment they need to get better. I’m surprised at the reviews that call him condescending because that is something I never experienced in my years of treatment with Dr. Byrd. I am very thankful that I found Dr. Byrd and Ocala Psychiatric Associates when I did.

Dr. Byrd and his staff are as good as they come. I look forward to coming to see them each month. Dr. Byrd is compassionate about what he does, truly cares about his patients and knows his stuff!!! No better place to go than Ocala Psychiatric Associates!

I was very appalled and disappointed when calling the office trying to get help for my mother. The women that answered the phone was very rude and unsympathetic. I think it is a blessing that they are not accepting new patients if that is how they treat a concerned family member trying to get mental help for their loved one, I can't imagine how the patients with mental illness are treated.

condescending! Dr. Byrd is condescending! The old woman in the back office, who appears to do his records and billing is even worse! If you choose him, goodluck to you.

I would not recommend this doctor. He is condescending and so is part of his staff which certainly does not benefit clients with psychiatric problems.

I found Dr. Byrd to be extremely condescending. It seems like he makes his mind up about you within the first few seconds. I would not recommend him at all. If you like to feel minimized, he's the guy for you. If you want to be genuinely helped with compassion and understanding, you best look somewhere else. I promise, you will leave the office feeling worse than when you went in. Not surprisingly, I never went back. He has several "therapists" on site. I saw one for about a year; she was extremely nice, but I didn't feel like she knew what to do with me. She listened and let me talk, but no real progress was made.
