Dr. Timothy Scott Eckford, MD

Asked for six months of my meds to help me make it though fire season. He stepped out of the room and placed the order. No questions asked. Found out later he only put in for three months. Irritated I went back to his office asking to speak with him, and via his receptionist I was told he was with a patient. I said I could wait. She said he’d be with patients all day and wouldn’t have the time. Said he’d call at the end of the day. Never got a call, never heard back. He just took my money and ran. Not mad he could only put in for three months, I’m disappointed in his lack of communication skills and inability to explain to me what he was doing. Avoided an uncomfortable conversation by withholding information. Let me find out at the pharmacy that he played me. I’ll probably have to go without my meds now for the second half of fire season. Glad he’s on his way out at the Rural Health Clinic, but also sorry for the next place and their patrons that have him practicing in… their community.

Rarely does Susanville get a pri.ary physician of such high caliber. As an RN for over 30 years and having worked on a wide variety of medical areas , I was very impressed with Dr. Eckford's thorough examination and medical history questions. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that he actually takes the time to call patients with diagnostic results and explanation of their meaning and relation to one's medical care. I highly recommend him.

Lacks understanding of chronic pain and how to work with a patient with multiple health conditions. Doesn’t care about individual needs and judges before listening.

After having several different P.A.s in town, I finally was happy to find a great M.D. that I hope will stay for years to come. Dr. Eckford took his time to ask me questions and was never in a hurry to move on to the next patient. I appreciate having a Doctor who is informed about my health and takes the time to ask questions. I am very happy with the care and compassion I was given with Dr. Eckford.

Dr. Tim Eckford is a great doctor. My main concern with selecting a new primary physician is there ability to handle ortho injuries as I have had several shoulder surgeries in high school and have several major issues in my lumbar spine. Dr. Eckford completed residency with a D1 football school down in the south eastern United States and makes me comfortable with his experience as I'm over 6' and about 275 which can make for different requirements in functional movement, etc. Tim is no stranger to Athletes and is the first doc I've had that was in the same age range as me, (mid-30s) so he's not a kid, but he's not practicing medicine that went out of date 25 years ago either. Couldn't be happier with you Doc! Thanks!

Dr. Eckford was rude, seemed to be in a hurry, and told me he doesn't know what I should do. I recently moved to susanville and was seeking a primary care physician. Dr. Eckford refused to prescribe my medication I have been taking for 3 years with my previous doctor at Kaiser permanente. Lack of my medication can cause severe withdrawal symptoms and be life threatening.He did not care. I told him I refused to be A guinea pig for his new medicines. He then got mad, picked up his folder and stormed out yelling back to make a payment at the desk before leaving. He was super unprofessional and couldn't care less about me being hospitalized a few days earlier from or having my prescription. I would never recommend anyone to see him for any reason regarding health care advice.
