Dr. Timothy P. Farrell

I went to see Dr. Farrell on the advice of my pulmonologist, who said I had a heart murmur. When I went back to see the doctor, he remembered me from seven years ago when I was last there. I found that kind and touching. He listened intently to my heart and lungs and had an EKG done. He indicated my EKG was still abnormal, as it had been seven years before, but he did detect the murmur. He ordered several tests that were done under his direction and each time he called me personally, because I live out of town, and gave me the results of the tests and the information I needed to go forward. After my drug-induced stress test, when the nurse offered me food and drink and I refused everything but water, Dr. Farrell showed concern that I did not want to eat and listened to the reasons why. That human kindness is why I will make my follow up appointment with him a year from now.

After my stress echo, he came to the room I was in, but didn't come in just stood in the doorway and said, your heart is worse. Then left. I switched to another doctor in the practice!

First appt., he read my chart with his back to me. Told me to schedule a stress test and come back. His stress test scheduler called me back promptly to schedule the test. Afterwards, he read me the results. "You have gotten worse since your last stress echo so come back in 6 months for another." Then he left. You don't tell a person they've gotten worse and then leave without explaining (after asked) what he meant by that. How am I worse? Can I do anything? If so, what? If I passed him in the street, I probably wouldn't even recognize him.

Over the past 6 years, I have seen 6 different cardiologists. Dr. Farrell is by far the most un-rushed. He is caring and has spent all time necessary with me to address my concerns. He is very thorough, and listens to his patients.
