Dr. Timothy Sean Kavanaugh, MD

I waited four months for an appointment, which was canceled last minute because the X-ray technician was absent. I was emailed a form for the wrong imaging company and, despite multiple calls and emails, received no response until the next day. My visit was canceled and rescheduled. At the rescheduled appointment, I waited an hour in a closed exam room before Dr. Kavanaugh arrived, unapologetic, unprepared, and dismissive. He asked why I was there and began asking rudimentary questions I had already completed on forms a week earlier, showing he did not even know the details of my condition. He refused my request to review my X-rays, raised his voice, and called me “confrontational” after I explained my frustration with the delays and having to obtain X-rays elsewhere. He abruptly said, “Everybody waits” and mentioned that his “technician has cancer.” When I said I wanted to leave, he abruptly replied, “Fine, then go! Exit to the left,” pushing his chair as he left. I felt unsafe,… disrespected, and left without care.

Got a knee replacement and was up and backto work in 2 weeks. I've never had a bit of trouble with it after 8 years.

Dr. Kavanaugh did an excellent job replacing my hip. I did need PT but just a few months later I can do anything painfree. Which is considerable - professional dogdriver and horse wrangler.

After having a first meeting with Dr Kavanaugh and scheduling a much needed surgery I am confident that my specific needs are being addressed in a professional and empathetic manner. Although I have had only one meeting with him, I have the utmost assurance of being in the hands of a caring and qualified physician. I feel very lucky to have been referred to this doctor and look forward to being treated with the dignity and respect all patients deserve.

Excellent care. Dr. Came and checked on me the same day of the surgery. Dr. Kavanaugh was professional and friendly.

Complete anterior replacement done in Aug. '17 at my pre op appointment he was patient & attentive (I had 3 pages of questions) he was answered them all. The facility & staff are excellent . I was always able to reach someone to answer questions post op.

He did my knee replacement seven years ago and i have never had a problem.

I would not recommend Dr. Kavanaugh. I had my knee surgery done by Dr. Kavanaugh and he left pieces of bone in my knee that traveled up my thigh. For 6 months I suffered and he would not return my calls and just ignored me. I am now considering a malpractice claim against him.

This is a follow-up review four years post-surgery. The hip prosthesis implanted by Dr. Kavanaugh was recalled, requiring removal. I got a generic "dear patient" letter from his office notifying me of this, with zero follow-up from them to make certain I had received the letter. (A friend of mine, with the same implant but different surgeon, got a personal phone call from the surgeon himself regarding the recall. ) After my previous experience with Dr. Kavanaugh, I was not inclined to see him again. I found another surgeon to do the revision surgery, and this doctor immediately identified the reason that the original implant had never worked well for me: the acetabular cup had been put in incorrectly. This was confirmed by another doctor during a separate visit. (Dr. Kavanaugh always acted as if I were making things up when I said my leg motion was off.) The experience with the second surgeon just served to reinforce how poor my experience with Dr. Kavanaugh was - from the lack of… communication, to the poor technique of the surgery, to the haphazard way my incision was closed. I have warned several people away from using Dr. Kavanaugh and will continue to do so.
