Dr. Timothy Ray Kuklo

My father walked in to the hospital for his surgery and after months of “complications” he came out in a wheel chair. He’s now barely able to get around with the use of a walker. In constant pain. The only thing doctors can do now is try to manage his pain but it only helps so much. His life will never be the same. Our lives will never be the same. Not only due to the physical toll but the emotional one as well. He went from being an independent hard working man to being reliant on others for care. He had to retire. He can’t drive a vehicle due to loss of function in his feet. He doesn’t go out and live life anymore. We are lucky if he has a rare good day where he can go out with us to breakfast for an hour. And afterwards he is in excruciating pain. Choosing Kuklo to do his surgery is his biggest regret in life. Please do your own research before choosing your doctor for spine surgery.

Dr. Kuklo performed a spinal fusion on me when I was 11. I had to have a revision one week later and a second emergency revision a year later when another doctor found one of the screws was a hairline away from my aorta. Also, he fraudulently signed other doctors signatures on a research study. The New York Times covered it. Google Timothy Kuklo fraud. I don’t know how he still has his license. No morals.

Please consider doing your research before choosing Dr. Kuklo for your spinal surgery! While I have read of others success stories, we feel that our experience became a nightmare. Prior to surgery, my dad was in pain but was able to do things such as work, golf, walk and drive a vehicle. He walked into the hospital for surgery and hasn’t not been able to walk unassisted since. My father had spinal fusion surgery performed by Dr. Kuklo. There were warning signs from the beginning that something wasn’t right. The surgery took much longer than expected. After surgery, he spent hours in recovery. When my mother and I went to see him in recovery, he was unconscious and would not wake up from anesthesia. He was moved to the ICU after surgery. We were assured that it was not a big deal and that he just needed to be monitored more closely until he starts to wake up. Dr. Kuklo reassured us that he was fine and that the surgery went well. The nurse warned us that he needed to lay flat and to… let them know right away if he began to complain of a head ache. We asked why and she began to explain that the doctor had to place a patch on his spine to prevent cerebrospinal fluid from leaking. She was explaining this to us as Dr. Kuklo entered the room and he immediately stopped her. He began scolding her in front of us and we overheard him telling her not to tell us that because it would scare his family. We feel like this was one of the first warning signs of what was ahead. When he became coherent, we noticed that he could not lift his right leg and was in excruciating pain. He had foot drop in both feet after the first surgery. Again, Dr. Kuklo tried to assure us that everything would be ok. He would tell us that his motor function would come back as the nerves recovered. Two years after his first surgery, he is able to walk again with the use of a walker due to extensive physical therapy, however, the drop foot in both feet is permanent and he is in constant pain. What was supposed to be a 4-5 day hospital stay turned into 3 months of inpatient care. Due to complications, he required 3 additional surgeries. We have visited other doctors in search of someone who could help but they have told us that there is nothing they can do structurally with the hardware and that the nerve damage is permanent. My dad lives in constant pain, has to use a walker, can no longer work or enjoy the some of the physical activities he once loved.

Dr Kuklo was willing to spend time explaining the details of my issues with me in a very professional manner and a very considerate attitude. He was even willing to talk to my son in Detroit discussing the possibility of treatments. I was Ok in a few weeks with the medicine he prescribed instead of going for a surgery. I understand it is not a permanent cure as he told me but at least. I am mobile . without any pain right now. Thanks to Dr. Kuklo. He is the best.

After over 30 years of pain and doctors telling me there's nothing they can do to help except for me to continue taking the pain medicine. Now at 62 yrs old I had enough. I finally found a surgeon that had the skill and experience to perform surgery on my neck C5, 6,and 7. Dr. Kuklo took the time to discussed the pros, cons and risk of surgery. I chose disc replacement with Mobi-c's. Its been two weeks since having the surgery, I feel fantastic. No neck brace, the pain is gone, I can move my arms above my head and turn my head to see my shoulders and beyond. Amazing! His staff of professional were very easy to work with and helped with insurance, scheduling and follow-up. Thank you all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ***I have recommended Dr. Kuklo to my freinds***

This was the best team of medical staff I have been around in a long time. I would love to have them around should I need them again and hopefully I won’t. I was in pretty bad shape and had a very bad herniated C4 C5 and C6 and a wedding to get to in just 3 weeks. Dr. Kuklo and his staff got me in right away and even worked with other doctors and their staff to get me checked out before my surgery could be done. Without giving too much detail I had to see a Ear nose and throat doctor due to scar tissue in my throat. His team was able to get me in immediately with those doctors and x-rayed. The list goes on like I said I was a mess. After all my results were in Dr. Kuklo and his team performed surgery on my neck. When I woke up I felt wonderful considering. I had finally had use of my hands again! I stayed one evening in the hospital and was ready to leave and recover for my wedding. My stay at the hospital was even phenomenal. They made me feel as if I was there only patient. Everyone… on Dr. Kuklo’s team is amazing and I could not stress this enough. I am very pleased with my results and feel as if I have a brand new start to life. The pain I was in was horrific and they took care of me immediately. I will be walking down that aisle in exactly 7 days and I couldn’t be more excited about that!!! Thanks guys!! xoxo ~ Heather

After 6 back operation Dr. Kuklo was the one who did my 7th surgery and the lower back is fused and healed. He was the one who help me through a very difficult time.

Dr. Kuklo spent a lot of time with me going over X-rays and my MRI explaining my exact issues. He answered all my questions in detail and did not rush. I felt so educated about my issues, no other doctor has given me this type of education. Leaving the office I felt almost empowered because although I have some serious back issues at least now I understand what I'm dealing with. Highly recommend!
