Dr. Timothy Harris Lucas JR., MD

Dr. Lucas had done two brain surgeries for me (for my Epilepsy). He had worked together with my neurologist (who is also great) and I wouldn’t trust anymore more, UPenn has done a lot for me and I owe it all to Dr.Lucas and Dr.Gelfand

Can't say enough good things about Dr. Lucas. He was very friendly and put me at ease about my procedure. He answered all my questions and I would, and actually have, recommend him if you need this type of specialist.

It is not always easy to find a doctor that is both exceptionally qualified and has a wonderful bedside manner.....but we did with Dr. Lucas. He has a way to explaining difficult things until they are understandable without feeling rushed. He is wonderful !! He is more than happy to take the time that is needed to put you at ease.

Dr. Lucas saved my life. I was in a very bad car accident and broke my back and neck (we were rear-ended by a much larger car and the car flipped and rolled). Dr. Lucas explained exactly what was wrong (burst fracture which endangered me to being paralyzed from the neck down) and explained that it was unstable and why he would have to operate right away. He explained all of teh risks of the operation and exactly what he would do (removal of burse vertebrae and fusion to stabilize the whole spinal area) and explained the operation would be long -- 7 hours -- and that they had to take their time. After the operation, he explained what had happened and that it was completely successful. I have had a miraculous recovery and am now in therapy (4 months later). I had to wear a brace (specially made) from my waist to my jaw for three months. I was very impressed with not only Dr. Lucas' skill (he saved my life and saved me from being paralyzed), but with the way he explained exactly… what was wrong with me and exactly what he had to do to correct it. He is an excellent doctor and I will be forever grateful to him.
