very good doctor knows exactly what to do

I have had multiple bad experiences with Dr Mackey but will share this final bad encounter only. My daughter slipped and injured her foot on a Friday evening so on Sat I brought her to ER then to Dr Mackey on Monday. He looked at the foot and said it was a sprain. I was advised to have her "do her ABC's" with her injured foot. She screamed that entire night and was not able to do her exercises. I returned Tuesday telling Dr Makey something was wrong (I am a mother of 5 and not unaccustomed to little ones getting hurt but know when there is a real problem) he looked at the foot said it was sprained and told her to do her exercises. Long story short I finally ended up seeing another Dr after I went to Urgent Care who ordered xrays (which I brought to Dr Mackey but said he say nothing) that in fact showed she had split her Tibia. She was referred to an Ortho and put in a cast. Once the cast was removed she had major problems with something that had started growing on her bone, has now… crossed the growth plate and we are having to take her every 6 months to make sure she is still growing correctly in that leg. She has already had one surgery at LLU where the bone was hallowed. This huge story to say maybe if Dr Mackey listened to a mothers intuition instead of throwing out the same diagnosis 3 times in 1 week this could of been less of a problem. We don't know if the bone was problematic causing the break or if the infection came whilst forcing her to do exercises because her Dr didn't want to look further into the complaints of his patient.

Dr. Mackey is a good doctor, he is just very abrupt and lacks patience. His nurse is HORRIBLE...extremely rude and disrespectful. I wish I took note of her name...if she wasn't there, the experience would have been tolerable. I never had this experience with Dr. Metsch's nurse, who was awesome...I hope this nurse is not shared amongst the other doctors. Because of her, I am searching for a new pediatrician to take my children to!

My daughter has been going to Dr. Mackey for six years. She has a very complicated medical history and he has always steered us to the right specialist. When need arises, Dr. Mackey always fits her in that very day and still we have no wait time. We have always loved Dr. Mackey and continue to be impressed by his medical competency and his honset concern for the well being of his patients.
