Dr. Timothy Gerard Malia, MD

Was with him for about a year and never really had to test his skills until recently. Most appts were easy in easy out except for all his nonsense talk about nothing. Went to address a back pain issue and was told and treated for a stomach ulcer with no testing. Referred me out to stomach Dr but not to kidney specialist which I had to seek myself (kidney was where the pain was). I made the two appts had several abdominal test done and forwarded him the results on the portal and begged to try something different as the medication for ulcer was not working. When he had his nurse contact me and state my test came back and they were “benign” I asked where it had stated that because the very first sentence on the cat scan report said and I quote “can’t rule out tumor because scan was performed without contrast” she immediately put me on hold he came on I said “hello how are you” and his exact words over Bluetooth speaker for my husband and son to hear “not good you keep bothering me”… well that was when I hung up and started my search for another Dr. Beware of this man he has no bed side manners and certainly no knowledge. His huge mustache and ego get in the way

Incompetent

I have been to a couple of different doctors in this area over the last couple of years and I have not been happy with their services. I made an appointment with Dr. Malia on a recommendation and from day one Dr. Malia began a plan to address my health issues and has worked consistently to help me reach my goals. I am confident that he has my best interests in mind and I am very glad that I found him. I trust him completely.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PHYSICIAN! READ REVIEWS FIRST! I made the mistake of going to this MD as he was suggested as a doctor building his practice and in need of patients. I now see why. He does not listen to the patient at all. He read my medications list and stated that it is irresponsible of the NP prescriber that was following the long time MD orders. He stated to me that I must be addicted to my medications. I shared there is a difference between addiction and tolerance. Gave him a lecture. He was all over the place on his stool he couldn’t sit still. He looked completely overwhelmed and having a patient with numerous chronic disorders was clearly out of his league. He asked if I was seeing anyone for mental health as I have to be depressed with the diagnosis that I have. I said well I am not. You have a complex medical history. He was frustrated and wanted to find a way not to take on the responsibility of me as a patient. He wrote that he stopped meds that I was not currently taking.… Told me that he heard the sound of stenosis when listening to my heart sounds but gave me no cardiac referral. I stated that I had cardiologist but he did not recommended going to see him. He stated oh you seem angry, I said I am not but you seem bewildered. He lacked knowledge of the generic names for medications. He would take a statement and reword it several times attempting to catch you in a lie or make a mistake. This went on for 45 minutes. He was accessing records of physicians without my written or verbal consent. I have never given Rochester Regional Health that consent or any other facility for that matter. He shared he would not be able to see me ongoing as a primary care physician but as a parting gift take a month of your meds. I listened to him make his statement and then I said as the patient I have something to say, I refuse to take your month supply of medications He interrupted, I stopped him and said I listened to you so please listen to me. I don’t wish to see you again and I will be making a formal complaint. He stated oh I see that your frustrated, I said no I am not frustrated but I see that you are surprised and completely confused that I am not here for the medications. I will not tolerate being treated the way that you have treated me. I would rather NOT have one single medication ever. Have a nice day. * NO PATIENTS WITH COMPLEX MEDICAL CONDITIONS FOR ME !!!!!

Dr. M as my family calls him has always been a consistent and kind resource when we’ve needed him. With 4 kids who are busy with sports and growing, we can’t always plan for needing to be seen by our primary physicians. We’ve come to rely on the ICE staff and regard them very highly. Diagnosed fractures, infections, concussions and more within our crew. Couldn’t be prouder to have met such a solid physician.

Last time at this facility ! Went in with a 3/8 of an inch sliver directly into my foot. The doctor tried for 15 minutes to get the sliver out and didn't. Then he stitched my foot with a foreign object in it and it got infected ! You could see the sliver in my foot ! I went to my podiatrist and she had the sliver out within 2 minutes and was furious that my foot was stitched. So extremely disappointed in the quality of service I received. I requested my money back and was denied.

Some people became doctors to help people... Some became doctors for the paycheck.. He is the latter.

He would not listen to anything I had to say. He didn’t give me any answers to why my back hurt. He was very rude to me. I have never met a doctor so rude.

Difficult to contact. Does not respond at all sometimes and not in a timely fashion at other times. Poor follow-up. He needs office help for scheduling, follow-up, paper work, etc. Mistakes made with prescriptions. Important insurance business (paper-work) not taken care of. Phone messages and emails often not responded to. Frustrating!
