Dr. Timothy W Penberthy, DDS

I had a root canal by Dr. Penberthy on a molar. Part of the process is putting metal reinforcing posts in the roots after they have been reamed out to strengthen the roots. He didn't do this. After about three weeks, the tooth broke off. He attempted to re-attach the tooth using ONE root and a post. It broke off. He then tried to re-attach it using 2 roots at the front of the tooth. There were no other viable roots. This was structurally unsound, and the tooth was overhung and unsupported in the back. When I tried to chew, it would painfully bend the tooth and roots causing the roots to loosen. This movement also loosened a crown on an adjacent tooth. One of those roots had a linear split running down it's length, allowing bacteria to get in the socket and create a painful infection. I had a year of a non-functional tooth, bleeding, infection, and finally had it extracted by another dentist. Over $2000, and hole where my tooth was. Very shoddy work, no accountability, no refund

Over 50 years ago I lost some teeth in an altercation while helping someone, and since then I've spent a good deal of time with a number of dentists for bridge-related issues. Some were good, some were not. With currently having a 25-year-old 7-tooth bridge needing replacement, I was sent to Dr. Penberthy (because of his particular skill with root canals) by another specialist to have 4 root canals performed to improve the foundation for a new bridge. I elected to have these done in one sitting. While no root canal is fun (much less 4), I can say that the experience was every bit as good as one could hope for. Dr. Penberthy is thorough, careful, and precise...which the final x-rays confirmed. If I ever need another root canal, he will be my first choice.

Was referred by my dentist to Dr Penberthy. Office was modern and spotless, staff was friendly, courteous and professional. Dr Penberthy reviewed my situation, explained my options, then explained in detail what his procedure would involve. The root canal itself went quickly with Dr Penberthy explaining what he was doing at each step. The costs had been explained to me in advance, including what my insurance was estimated to pay and what would be my share. Following the procedure the staff courteously reviewed those numbers with me again and I paid my portion of the bill. A root canal is not something anyone looks forward to, but Dr Penberthy and his staff handled my situation with the type of friendliness, courtesy and professionalism that deserves to be noted.

Dr. Penbarthy is one of the best dentists. Very capable. If one needs a root canal he is the one that can go a great job.

I was highly disappointed. I felt attacked and put down over a misunderstanding. He was very unprofessional in his mannerisms and behavior. I did not feel safe, or comfortable in my situation (made worse by the fact that I was in a dentist chair). I left in tears, I wouldn't advise anyone to see him.
