Dr. Timothy Hugh Rayner, MD

I was seeing Dr. Rayner for over 7 years, the only reason I stopped was due to the fact i moved 1,000 miles away. Very carrying and understanding doctor, who takes the time to get to know his patients.

I have seen Dr. Rayner for two years for both psychotherapy and medication. Several times, we have had to make medication changes, and he has been very attentive to my problems and concerns during that process, with the result that I now feel that I am on the best medication regimen for me. He has helped me understand myself and the problems that I was having in my relationships so that I am no longer sabotaging myself. He has helped me immensely.

Dr. Rayner was thorough, professional, and compassionate.

I went to Dr. Rayner because of his supposed expertise on psychiatric drugs. All he did was keep on upping my dose of Paxil and never bothered to tell me about the many dangers of this drug. He never asked me if I was having any unusual or disturbing occurrences that might be connected with the drug. As it turned out, the Paxil had stopped working for me. (I found out later that this is very common with Paxil.) Dr. Rayner did absolutely no followup on my case. By the time I decided to go off the drug, I was already having disturbing symptoms. Even withdrawing from the drug slowly did nothing to alleviate the withdrawal symptoms, which are absolutely horrendous and made me feel like I was in the middle of a seemingly endless nightmare. I even ended up hospitalized because of this situation. I may still be experiencing effects from Paxil three years later as I still have the hand tremors and sweats that I developed while on Paxil. I feel that as an "expert" on psychopharmacology,… Dr. Rayner should have known that I was having side effects while still on the drug. (I later found out that the trouble I was having concentrating, which I reported to Dr. Rayner more than once, is a VERY common side effect of Paxil.) Dr. Rayner said absolutely nothing when I reported this condition to him. His handling of my case was deplorable.
