He completed his internship and a residency in orthopedics while serving on active duty with the United States Air Force in Florida and Texas. Dr. Stapleton went on to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Georgia. He serves as the primary team physician for all Mercer University athletics. He is as the Chief of Surgery and the Chief of Orthopaedics for Coliseum Northside Hospital.
