I’ve had bad experiences with dentists in the past which has always made me apprehensive about dental work. Dr. Tejera put me at ease and was very professional and friendly. He even called personally later in the day to check on me. Such a rarity these days. Highly recommend his practice.

When I set the appointment for an extraction the receptionist told me I only needed a "local" and wouldn't have to have anesthesia, and that the procedure would only take about 20 minutes. Once there I saw the nurse who was semi-friendly and then the doctor came in for a minute to give me the local. Ten or fifteen minutes later the doctor came back in and started the extraction but it was painful so he gave me another injection. After another few minutes he started again but it was still too painful, especially since the tooth had now cracked, so once again he gave me an injection. This happened over and over until I had received 6 injections and he told me that was the limit so I could either let him proceed in pain or come back the next day and have anesthesia. The reason I would have to come back the next day was that I had eaten breakfast and they won't give you anesthesia if your stomach is full--why didn't the receptionist warn me about this possibility so I could have… skipped breakfast? Overall, it was a very painful and frustrating experience. While I was there the doctor only spent a few minutes with me from time to time during the two hour ordeal--he must have had several other patients he was seeing at the same time as he always seemed to be in a hurry. Not a good experience--and no call to see how I was doing after the difficult and painful extraction--something my regular dentist always did even on less serious procedures.
