Dr. Tod F Tolan, MD

Dr. Tolan recently was the attending anesthesiologist for procedure I had done – – for cataracts. In the initial interview or talk with him he was rude and attended to details that were not pertinent to the procedure. It appeared that he was attempting to humiliate me and possibly because he had been corrected (respectfully) on my name. Then as the procedure was to start he began administering the anesthesia and the nurse called out that I was allergic to opiates. Bear in mind that he'd already started to administer them (Opiates). I could taste the medication in the back of my mouth. He stopped and called out to me asking me what my symptoms were, to which I replied what the symptoms were. I heard him say he had to make a change. Before going into the operating room he had the paper work in hand to which the nurse had highlighted my allergies. And also note that he did not ask about any allergies only about the things that were not pertinent. Every other person who would come… into the room the first thing they asked me was about my allergies. I reported the incident to my doctors office to make sure that when I go in for my next procedure I do not have him as the anesthhesiologist. In my opinion this man should not be practicing. I know full well that people make mistakes doctors as well but this is inexcusable.

Poor manors and lack of attention to details. His verbal communications, handwriting and spelling on paperwork is sloppy.
