Dr. Todd Ross Lefkowitz, DO

Dr. Lefkowitz diagnosed my leg pain, caused by a disk problem, accurately and treated it well. He has an excellent, professional manner with patients.

This is not a doctor to see if you are going to see him about any immune disorders. Was combative with me about what was ultimately a wrong diagnosis made by him and was not interested in having me (his patient) discuss any other possibilities of different diagnosis with him. Thank goodness I found someone who knew what they were talking about.

I met Dr. Lefkowitz in 2008, as he was finishing his fellowship in Spinal care. I had, a few months prior, injured my back lifting weights and was in incredible pain. Considering my age, 24 at the time, I was filled with an overwhelming fear of ruining my life and not receiving adequate care. I had scheduled an appointment with the head of the practice who just wrote me a prescription for long acting pain-medication. The next weekend I was in excruciating pain and was called, immediately, by Dr. Lefkowitz, who told me to see him the next day. Over the next few years, until he left NYU, I was fortunate enough to have been treated by Dr. L. He never gave up on helping me, trying every possible medication and procedure. He was an advocate for me with my surgeon, and, when he left, with his replacement. Never once did Dr. L accuse me of lying to seek drugs, as many doctors do (its the sad reality of this world), yet was comforting, caring and always had my best interests in mind. … Although I am still in pain, it was greatly reduced by the actions of Dr. Lefkowitz. I would trust this man with my life and highly recommend him to anyone seeking a resolution to any back / neck issue. Thanks DL

I liked him But I don't trust him to give me spinal

I went to Dr. Lefkowitz for low back pain and numbness in my leg and foot. Instead of rushing me through the appointment and throwing a pain pill prescription at me as other doctors had done in the past, he told me to slow down (I was speaking quickly because I thought he wouldn't have time to hear all my concerns) and remember that he was there to listen, help, and evaluate my problem. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised. Amazingly, as I slowed down, he asked me other health questions that I didn't think had anything to do with my back or leg. Turned out, he knew best. He diagnosed my problem as being bigger than any other doctor had taken the time to discover, but at the same, he let me know my problem was NOT insurmountable. He prescribed medicine that would help with the pain, but not turn me into a drugged zombie; he prescribed SPECIFIC physical therapy to help correct and relieve the problem, and he advised me on other lifestyle changes that would help the overall… problem. When I left his office, I was crying tears of joy that someone had finally heard me instead of my usual tears of pain that someone had brushed me off yet again. My only regret was that I didn't find him first. It would have saved me a lot of pain and anguish. ALL doctors in ALL specialties could learn from him and his ability to listen and REALLY HEAR the patient.
