Dr. Todd Earl Wolf, MD

Uninformed in treating my rare disease. He refused to read the clinical summary and treatment guidelines from the disease specialist center that assessed me, and instead made outdated and uninformed treatment decisions. I advocated for myself, trying to give him my treatment guidelines, updated research, and clinical summary. He repeatedly refused to take the documents and instead doubled down, insisting he was right. He clearly does better with passive patients, not willing or able to advocate for themselves. Every hematologist I have been treated by previously had no problem admitting their ignorance of my disease, and were humble enough to learn from experts in the disease and read recent research through the disease foundation. I don’t expect every doctor to know everything about every disease, especially rare ones. I do however expect that they recognize what they don’t know, seek education and consultation, follow guidelines by experts, and provide quality standard care. I… switched providers after one visit. It was such an awful experience. He then tried to unethically intervene in that (trying to get rid of me in the clinic), but luckily the new provider team made their own decisions. During my appt. with him, I was calm, professional, and simply argued and challenged him with facts which angered him. I advocated for myself, backed up with facts and a document of treatment guidelines from the specialist who assessed me. Dr. Wolf then abruptly ended my appt. with doing an exam or addressing my acute concerns. He slammed the door as he walked out. (Very unprofessional) He then falsified the medical note by documenting he had done an exam, and he also omitted important details I reported and distorted other important content. (This is exactly why new HIPAA laws give patients the right to access and see their records. Providers MUST amend the note to add details requested by clients to more accurately reflect what happens in an appointment.) The new hematologist is fantastic. She listened, has consulted with experts, doesn’t pretend to know more than she does, and learns what she doesn’t know. This clinic is very able to provide the standard care recommended and the new hematologist is doing just that. Many staff and providers in that clinic have apologized to me for his behavior. However, nobody but Dr. Wolf should be apologizing. Those who think they know everything, don’t learn anything
